Damn belgium makes my heart STOP.I hope they'll score little earlier in the next round...

I'm not saying Belgium's goal was lucky but I voted Belgium lucky cuz Russia played better. Russia just couldn't find the net with all the opportunities they made. You have to admit, Belgium's defense was questionable at times.

marc wilmots should put kevin mirallas in the first team & let him play for 90 minutes!

Belgium's stratagy in first 2 matches to Algeria & Russia was too conservative. Players are requested to control the ball in their feet instead of fast attack. Thanks for the plenty of talents sitting at bench, coach may modify the tactics and substitute (e.g. Fellani in 1st match and Mirallas+Origi in 2nd match) effectively. And it win .................. I believe Belgian can get overto last 8.

Neville 12 years ago

Russia's best players were holding back themselves and behaved as if the ball was in their way. When occasionally drifted too close to the Belgian goal, they had to make sure the ball would fly the wrong way.The game was spectacularly boring and ugly to watch, filled with staged fights and overacted injuries. The level was way below zero, let alone world-cup standard. Then in the last minutes, suddenly there was a sudden flash of real football, one action whereby a player found the ball, passed it at the location where there was actually another player, who then properly kicked the ball and goal there was.The Russians were watching the goal as mere outsiders and as if they never learned about defense. Classical scenario of fixed matches.

loloki 12 years ago

why the fuck arshavin yuri zhirkov and pavlyuchenko not selected? this is the most boring russia team ever.

England is out. Face it. Taking sh1t about the other teams won't bring England back.

You don't know the meaning of the word struggle. ALgeria had 3 shots in total while one was a penalty. They took their points and thats it. If it's a 15-0 you're looking after go watch another sport. I like the way they play they can go far like this

Fru_Toot 12 years ago

Manchester City, England 54 635

I never said England is good all i said is belgium is overrated (which is true) and yes belgium did struggle. Scoring vs a mediocre team in the 87th minute and you think youre top? Wait till overratedgium meet brazil,Netherlands ,Germany theyll get trampled. overratedgium got no experience at all in how to deal with pressure. Round of 8 is what overratedgium can get maximum

user 12 years ago

Fact is, Belgium may be overrated but are they rated better than England? Yes. And Belgium's still in the World Cup. Were they rated better than Spain? No. But Spain's no longer in the race. Bottom line is, the World Cup, especially this one, does not give a sh!t about your ratings. Beasts struggle against underdogs and underdogs trample on the beasts. You won't know for sure if Belgium is overrated til they start losing. At least they didn't need the help of the referee to win their games, right?

Aden 12 years ago

the only overrated sh1t is England.

Comparing the English and Spanish exits to the Belgian progression seems a bit harsh, since Belgium was in probably one of the easiest groups of this World Cup and the English and Spanish groups were debatably the hardest groups in this World Cup..

Fru_Toot 12 years ago

Manchester City, England 54 635

wow man ignorant people bringing in england. I JUST SAID BELGIUM IS OVERRATED WHERE THE F*CK DID ENGLAND COME FROM? belgium struggled vs 2 mediocre teams and youre comparing belgiums group compared to england's with uruguay and italy and spains group with chile and netherlands. get the fk out of here. belgium will be destroyed come the quarter finals.

Russia now < Russia that beat England to qualify for euro 2008 and got into the Semi-Finals ;)

Fru_Toot 12 years ago

Russia cant even beat south Korea yet you have the audacity to talk about England . England will steam roll Russia to the present day. Dont bring in a result that happened 6 years ago cos no one gives a toss about 6 years ago.

1) Yes, we can recognise that Belgium didn't play well but England, Spain, Argentina and Italy too (England played well but was not efficient). 2) Don't forget that this is our first world cup since 2002 et this squad is the second youngest in this world cup.3) Good players (reason of the overrating) doesn't mean good team (e.g. Ivory Coast).

May be, we can hope that Belgium will reach quarter finals if they will play against United States. Anyway, our target is the 2016 UEFA European Championship and this world cup has given some experience to our national team.

Both Belgium and Argentina, not impressed. I feel if a quality team gets a lead against them both they will be too late to wake up.

i don't really understand what's happening to Lukaku on this tournament.. he was a beast in everton this season.. It's very much possible that he won't even start the next game in the first eleven now that origi scored..

I dont think it was a boring match, I enjoyed it. ... and Russia didn't deserve to loose

Sergei Matvejchuk 12 years ago

Congratulations to Belgium, this is the weakest Russian team since the beggining of the 21th centuary. I think im startin to understand English football association when they dismissed Fabio Kapello . He is an old 1d1ot with chicken scary tactics , wrong first 11 squad and late subs. Dzagoev 82 min and Kerghakov 90 min . Two strikers , nah!

As a Belgian, I have to say that even though they are not playing matches that are fun to watch, they are still winning them. Matches like Germany-Ghana and Brasil-Mexico were maybe more fun, but look what they got out of it...

Born in Belgium, raised in Belgium, speaks our language (even with a very specific accent from the north-east of the country). Wisely he chose to play for Belgium even for the youth U-15 teams and beyond.

why does every time a team score people say it's luck? Well, did the ball decide to go in the net by itself ? this is not fucking lottery
