What happened to Steffen Freund I dont see him on the touch lines anymore I dont know if AVB demoted him. That fat guy who always sits next to AVB is acting like an assistance instead of Freund our legend. Someone needs to find out why Freund is not sitting his seat and always out of the camera when its pointed toward our Bench. C.O.Y.S

I watched this game and I think Villa weren't poor by any means. They were the better side in the 1st 30 mins but that goal along with AVBs tactical adjustments changed the match. Spurs were the better side. Perhaps if Benteke converted that great opportunity in front of goal the match would've played out more evenly. As it is, the correct team won but I think Villa are far from relegation fodder this year. They have some good players and some lovely interplay. Luckily for them, they just finished playing all the top teams and will have better opportunities to gain some points.

Tbh Townsend has been better than Bale this season (I know Bale's been out most of the season) Not talking about the goal, we all know it was lucky but he was MOTM for me. I've been always impressed with him when I've seen him play. Great business to sell Bale 100m and still have identical player for free. After Benteke came on AVFC had their best 10mins of the game, but the last 15minutes Tottenham dominated again.

bro, did you just say Townsend is as good as Bale? Indeed, you have implied he may be better. Y\'all need to stop.
I can say that he is a very good player and has been impressive. I even told Lodatz that after his game against us, where i thought he was their best player besides Lloris. But let\'s not get too carried away just yet.

@FootaholicHe said he has been better THIS SEASON which is a fact. Bale is one of my favorite players, but he hasn't been better than Andros. The comparison is stupid because Bale has been injured but regardless when he has played he hasn't been impressive.

How come Bale and Townsend have scored the same number of goals, but Bale has more assists, THIS SEASON, Skrong, despite only playing half the number of games? For fux sake, mate, let\'s not build this kid up to be the new Bale; no-one needs that kind of pressure. What he NEEDS is to stop having smoke blown up his arse, so he can be taught that he needs to change his game to help the team.

Just gonna repeat it until morons realize it's true: Honestly, sorry to my fellow Tottenham fans, but, I was seriously not impressed by Townsend at ALL. Let's face it: his goal was very, very fortunate, and for the rest of the game he squandered upwards of ten chances to set someone up on goal. Constantly cutting inside when he should be going outside, he lost the ball, killed our momentum and shot wide time and time again. Just because he's young and English doesn't mean he should be immune from criticism. He needs to learn, FAST, because we could have won this 5-0.

Dude don't refer to your fellow fans as morons. Quit with the pointless negativity, we won didn't we? Gareth Bale was incredibly one dimensional when he first got pushed forward (hoof down the byline!). Have some patience, Townsend's contributing for club and country.

its just his opinion. he's clearly wrong but don't worry AVB is the manager of your team and not Lodazt. I think the followers of Spurs value the opinion of AVB over this random guy lol

I have to say that I disagree wtih you Lodatz. The modern winger has more to his game than hugging a touchline. I think he did very well in fact. By cutting in a lot he gave the backline a lot to think about because the next time he ran the side they\'d be a step behind second guessing his movements. .That allowed to provide a few good opportunities to his forwards.. they just didn\'t take them. Moreover, I thought he was a great outlet on multiple occasions and what you perceived as his \"slowing down\" of the game was actually him giving his teammates time to get back on the break from defending to provide more support for the attack. In any case, that\'s just my opinion and to be perfectly frank I couldn\'t give a toss either way but I thought you might like a neutral\'s view.

@Greavsie: We won, but we could have won by a lot more, and because no-one points out where Townsend is going wrong in these easy game,s we will pay for it, heavily, in the hard games. I've had patience. We're now 8 games in, and Townsend has squandered more chances than any player in the LEAGUE. It's not pointless negativity, it's the truth, and we need to realize it.

@Skrong: shut the fuc.k up yourself. It may be a consensus opinion, but it's wrong, it's lazy commentary and it's ignoring reality. He didn't have a stormer at all. He managed one shot on target, which wasn't really a shot but did happen to creep in luckily, and one decent cross (to Paulinho). The rest of the time? He lost the ball and gave away goal-kicks. Open your eyes.

@Foot: He provided barely ANY opportunities to his forwards; that's the POINT. He's a winger. He needs to be assisting. He needs to be nipping outside of his marker/full-back, and feeding that ball into the box. Poor Soldado, rather than waiting for a pass, had to run to the byline HIMSELF to keep plays alive, because Townsend was too busy predictably cutting inside and losing the ball. He needs to be on the left, because he's harming the team on the right.

Masterstroke from AVB for pushing Paulinho forward it paid off at the end. He is well round player we are lucky to have him. To the assistance referee, We Spurs fans are deeply hurt for what had happened to you and we are not thugs and it is not in our DNA whomever did that to you will face the full force of the law and I hope non of our supporters will bail that thug from jail.

Like I always say.... all Soldado needs to score from open play is some decent SERVICE. Paulinho linked up with him brilliantly here, and that's why he scored. If Townsend can stop taking stupid shots and cross more like he tried to do today, Soldado will end up being the EPL's top scorer this season.

Precisely. Soldado had a brilliant game, in fact. It\'s a shame he had to be dragged out onto the RW so often to cover where Towsend SHOULD have been, instead of getting into the box.

Rona 12 years ago
So happy for Soldado! Got the weight off his shoulders, and now he can finally start scoring regularly! Suberp performance by Townsend again, all in all good performance! Back to winning ways now.COYS!

Could have been a hat-trick for Soldado if Townsend had played as a winger should play. Not superb by Townsend at all; in fact, he was the biggest problem with our attack. His decision-making skills need a SERIOUS upgrade.

The shot you are talking about was in a good line,if it was not even going in the goal, there were 3 spurs player waiting for it to put in.As far as wasting is concerned, i agree to some point, he shoots at the goal more often than to feed the striker. But still he will learn and improve. Can't recall how many lone strikes like that from bale saved us last season.

Skrong 12 years ago
Tottenham Hotspur 1 381
What are you talking about? Townsend was unplayable for most of the match...he really should've gotten an assist when he nearly spoon fed Paulinho a goal with an inch perfect cross. For all the hype he's getting, Andros, is certainly getting his share of hate as well.
0
Yaya Sinigan 12 years ago
are you high ?
1
Lodatz 12 years ago
Tottenham Hotspur, England 150 5004
@spurshubh: that's the problem: BALE got those lone strikes. Townsend is not Bale, and we cannot rely on him becoming Bale. Bale was one of a kind. What we NEED Townsend to be is a right winger, and he's just wasting chance after chance. He either needs to learnt o go outside the full back, or to get his arse on the left where he can put his left foot to better use.
0
Lodatz 12 years ago
Tottenham Hotspur, England 150 5004
@skrong: unplayable? Really? Then how come he lost the ball more times than he beat his man, how come he slowed the game down every time he cut inside, and how come he didn't provide a single assist, despite how much of the ball he saw? That cross to Paulinho was the best thing he did in the entire match -- it was also the one time he did what a RW SHOULD do. Wonder what the coincidence is...
