Wee bit simplistic to say its Catholic vs Protestant.Yes most pbaborly the Rangers support is pbaborly about 95/96% Protestant ,but the Celtic support is around 75/25% Catholic /Protestant. Celtic have always commanded a large Protestant fan base due to the club never having a bar on who they sign (think they had a Catholic only policy for about 3 years from 1888 to 1891 )wheras Rangers from the end of WW1 until 1989 had a non RC signing policy.
