Full credit to Japan because they were definitely the better team. They may not be the most exciting team but they were smart, quick, and effective. Egypt played really poorly early on and got punished accordingly. Sad day for me but Japan were deserved winners. Good luck to them.

japanese football aims to follow barcelona's "tiki taka" style - the most exciting football. to achieve it, japan has invested bunch of money on the national football infrastructure. this time our football doesn't seem to be exciting to you because the players' talents are not fully capable yet. but sooner or later, we must have the most interesting football in the world.

I'm not saying that they won't be. I am aware that Japan has invested a lot of money into football and they have already produced some great talent. I was just commenting on how they played in this tournament, which I'm sure you'll agree, is more counter-attacking football. There's nothing wrong with that btw. I just prefer the tiki taka style and maybe soon they will show the world just how good they've become.

Truth = Egypt were awful in the first 20 minutes. Gave the ball away like easily & had absolutely no shape. Japan came out of the blocks strong and put Egypt under pressure leading to their 1st goal. Afterwards, Japan sat back a little allowing Egypt to get back into the game until a great counterattacking pass forced the defender to get a red. 2nd half was Japan making the Egyptians run their asses off when Japan were in possession and when Egypt tried to pass their way through, the Japanese defense was a solid wall. This continues until the 10 man Egypt began to show that they were drained and Japan capitalized with another good counter leading to their second goal sometime around the final 1/4 of the match. This effectively ended their chances but credit to the Egpytians they kept going and created a few good opportunities. Playing their hearts out made them even more drained until one of the remaining CB pulled a hammy. Japan scored against the 9-men team shortly after and could've scored even more if they weren't wasteful. At that point I was just praying for the game to end as a matter of respect.

Hey, guys. It's not over yet. I agreed that Japan played well on their own style. But, because they met a team were playing awfully that day. I just await next match. It would be a real test to Japan Olympic Football team. S. Korea drew against Mexico. Hey, Japan, I'm expecting what can you do against Mexico. I'll bet Mexico. Haha.

what are you saying? Japan already beat Mexico pretty easily in a friendly a week before the olympics, they beat Spain EASILY, now they're on fire, I'm betting for Japan.

no doubt Japan is the best team in Asia these days They seem they don't care the result but play their own football regardless of whatever and play the game to the full. indeed great team. Go get a medal Japan.

i really hate that kind of playing , defend almost all the time then score goals by defender's mistakes !! this is what japan was doing till the 2nd goal...Egypt was so unlucky , Red card & our best CB was injured few seconds before the 3rd goal !! yeah Japan was lucky but they were good too & deserved the win coz they didn't waste alot of chances like what egypt did...

Japan is not my team but I have seen its football since my team is one of its great rival. Japan has never been a team known for what you said. They do passing based football like Spain but has their own unique style that sometimes but quite frequently stuns strong teams. I'm sure this result is not stunning result to football fans.

Japan were playing on the counter but they were but they were NOT lucky. Nor was Egpyt unlucky. Each were deserving of their fate.

Don't cry baby, your team loose but they were not able to win the competition. Japan doesnt even win, i've said that 2 months ago cause you told me that Spain will rape them... Spain loose against Honduras, that's why I say that, we will see. Your future, being Ahmed, 24 years old, Intern Doctor at MUH living in Mansoura, Egypt... and jerk off in front of CR7!

I don't know about Japan winning a first place but pretty sure there is a great possibility Japan gets one of medals. They've shown enough their quality in this competition but seems still being underestimated.

you forgot that you gonna face Mexico next round. You are out. Try to be humble my friend. Spain regardless of going out, they are still world and euro champions, show some respect. You may probably need harakiri after Mexico's match.

Can you repeat what you said? YOu are out greedy bastard. Harakiri?
