Xavi attacks Mourinho

January 7th 2014 article can be found on goal.com

The Spain star slammed the former Real Madrid and Inter boss' style of play, while also criticising the style of Roberto Di Matteo’s Champions League-winning Chelsea side
Barcelona midfielder Xavi has launched another attack on Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, hitting out at ‘The Special One’s’ footballing philiosophy.

The Spain international, who was regularly critical of the Portuguese while he was in charge of Clasico rivals Real Madrid, insists Pep Guardiola and Johan Cruyff are examples of coaches who want their sides to play football in the right way.

“Pep Guardiola is an important person for me - Jose Mourinho is a coach who focuses only on results,” Xavi told Panenka magazine.

“He says he is ‘The Special One’ because he won this and that in so many countries but I do not like the way his teams play.

“Who remembers the Inter side who were champions of Europe? For me, he has not left a legacy, unlike Cruyff has in the Netherlands.”

Xavi was also critical of former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo, who guided the Blues past Barca in the Champions League semi-finals on their way to winning the competition in 2012.

“Di Matteo was the same [as Mourinho]," the playmaker argued. "He won the Champions League, but from my point of view that team didn’t play at all.

“I am happy playing for Barca because of our philosophy.”

Xavi has been a vocal critic of Mourinho tactics, while he also hit out at the Portuguese coach for his treatment of international team-mate Iker Casillas during his final months at the helm of Madrid.

Dick move is when comparing ref mistake to team cheating, there is no link...
And im actually very happy with our achievements when Mou was in Spain, he won a liga, a copa and a supercopa in 3 years, For Madrid its very average achievements. We are talking about Madrid here not Tottenham.
So yes Mou helped Madrid to be more powerful but lost his face to face with Barça, and he quit Spain without any trophy last season... Goodbye.
And he will not return in the recent future :). He understood that he needs 100 pts to win every year, better go to chelsea, less competition and less pressure, you can lose 1 or 2 games without being 10pts far from the leader.

No link? Oh, sure. I mean, it's not like you can boot up YouTube, type in "barcelona dive" and find literally HOURS of footage, or anything.

Face it, tiki, the fact that you're having to make cheap remarks about Spurs reveals that you've lost this one. Just give it up.

And oh look, now you've edited to make cheap remarks about the Premier League, too.

Just classing it up over there, aincha? I can feel the class. ;)

We are only talking here, do you think it was a fight ? The only team better then Barça actually is Bayern. And we are looking for a revenge... to Chelsea fans : Hope we will meet soon, our time to take a revenge, even if there is a lot of pressure in those games, i love to face Chelsea.
To Spurs fans : Qualify first and build a team, if we face you know, the Liverpool game would be nicer than what you could get.

See? You don't have anything, by this point, except really poor attempts to rile me up.

I do hope that, should City beat Barcelona, you'll revise your statement about ONLY Bayern being better than Barca, though. I do hope, if that happens, you won't complain about 'negative football', again. ;)

Chelsea were robbed, Xavi is wrong, and everyone knows it. I'm off to bed. I'd stay up, but, you ran out of things to say about 5 posts ago, so, have fun. :)

You didnt answer your point about the 2 Barça pk ? my aim here is not to win a converstation no matter what, i can be wrong but try to explain to me instead of doing the show for others. I dont give a sh** of others if you dont understand it.

So in your opinion 4 Pk might be given and 0 for Barça. I want to know your point not what you want others to read...
If City wins, then credit for them to have more equilibred team because judging about attacking weapons, we are at least in top 2 teams, we are doing well with a mediocre defense. I dont know if a team can play and win with our defense and coach of last year, CREDIT TO THE PLAYERS.
We are competing to win CL every year, i dont mind if you win a forum conversation ;)

Yes, because when I respond with a screen-length post explaining why you're wrong, and you respond with a single line, with a (hilariously ironic) remark about the death of objectivity, I'm totally the one who is playing games here instead of discussing something. ;)

What point needs to be answered about Barcelona's 2 'penalties'? So there was a possibility that Henry might have gotten a pen -- so what? It doesn't change the fact that Chelsea were denied FOUR of them in a single match, and that any single one of them would have made the game impossible for Barca to sneak back into.

The only one doing the 'show' is you, mate, with your silly little stuff about Tottenham and Mourinho.

Stick to the topic, if you can. Let me refresh your memory about what YOU have still not answered:

  1. Malouda foul: ummm... CLEARLY inside the box.
    2: Pique: penalty, obviously.
3: Drogba: Ummm, having your shirt clearly pulled and someone's leg drawn across your own is called being fouled, not diving. Penalty.
  2. Ballack: hard to give at this moment? What does that even mean? It was crucial. They all were, and they all should have been given.

Chelsea were robbed, mate. Should have been an all-English final for the second year in a row.

"English people are number one in claiming things after the game ending, we dont have this in France and Spain."

Maybe because French and Spanish teams don't get fukked over, year after year, tournament after tournament, like the English, hmmm? Or do you imagine, even for an instant, that your teams have been screwed like this as many times? Seriously?

It's pretty telling that the only videos you can find claiming Barca have been unfairly treated barely over a minute long, or that absolute joke of a video about the game against Inter. The only thing that video had even a remote case for was the offside goal. Other than that? Utter BS.

"Or Maybe you think there is a conspiracy against English teams,"

Um, to be perfectly honest, with Platini and Blatter? I'd believe that in a heartbeat. But I believe it was more to do with Platini wanting Barcelone to win, for marketing reasons.

Look, I know it wounds the pride and the dignity of the team you love, but Barcelona have this reputation for a reason. It's not just because you were the best for a few years. It's because there are hours of footage of Barcelona players diving and cheating, and every time you try and deny it?

You only damage your own dignity in the process.

Barcelona play beautiful football, but, there's also the dark side. Pretending that dark side doesn't exist is an insult to the world of football, and you know what else?

At least when other teams get shafted, they can point to terrible ref calls and diving. You say that this 'complaining' doesn't take place in Spain? Well, I call bullsh*t, because the interview which started the thread is a PERFECT example of a Barcelona player whining and complaining about how the other teams didn't play the way that HE wanted them to.

Just like the majority of Barca fans say about when they lost to Chelsea in 2012, or Inter in 2010, or when they lost to Mourinho's Madrid, etc etc. It's always the same old excuse about 'negative football'.

THERE's your complaining culture, in Spain, mate. When the other team doesn't play the way you want them to? Suddenly it's 'not really football', isn't it?

Again, at least English teams have an actual case to make.

There you go.

Ton Français est pas mal non plus, merci de me faire progresser dans ta langue. J ai eu mon TOEIC haut la main et c est en partie grâce à vous :) même si on n arrête pas de se chambrer... :)

* Test Of English for International Communication

My point is not popular here, what did you expect we are in an English forum, but other views are very important in a forum especially from outside England, thats give to a forum more credibility and if we all have the same point, then no need to debate. I respect the fact that you thinks in a different way than me but you need to respect the fact that other views exists... And i guarantee you that no REF would give 3 PK in that game in the whole world.

You think that Drogba vs Abidal is a PK, i think Drogba need to go to a swimming pool. So respect to both points...

Votre anglais est mille fois mieux que mon français, donc vous devez être sacrément fier de lui. :)

And sure, absolutely everyone could see what Drogba was up to in that match in 2012. Hell, even the English commentators even named the injury time as 'Drogba time'.

The difference is: not many people could blame him, after what happened in 2009. :p

@Lodatz Thank you :).
I understand why nobody can blame Drogba for his dives, he is a club legend and i respect that. But how can English people show 0 tolerance for other foreign players and be quit for their stars ? Where is the objectivity ?
Im not blaming Drogba, he is a WINNER and sometimes, only the win matters. Even the most fair-play coach will close his eyes if it works for the win in such important events like CL final stages, we cant hate Busquets for his dives and love Drogba for his goals, sometimes people need to know that everything is about emotions in Football and better try to be the most neutral possible in reasoning even if it does not suit us.
The start of the discussion was clearly biaised and motivated by some frustration, that was my opinion. My response was as emotional as what was said before and im not proud of it.
Im hearing that Chelsea deserved 3 CL in the past, but when they won that was not deserved, Thats football. The non legitime goal of Liverpool was a bigger matter than the controversial Piqué hand, dificult for a ref to kill a semi-final game when the home team are winning against 10 players, but he had to whistle at least one in that game...
And other Barça foul had to be whistled in other games, thats it.

I'm so fed up of all those videos from the Barça plastic fans. What this fool, "Xavi" wants from Mourinho again? He is gone. Forever. Butthurt of that Inter 2010 match? Oh come on, a Professional football player shouldn't react like that. He must be deeply jealous to say those things. And I'm far away from being satisfied of what Mourinho did to Madrid.
