If Alonso wants to return to Liverpool, I think Liverpool would snatch that opportunity with both hands. They have never been the same since he left. He'd be the perfect deep-lying playmaker next to Lucas if they wanted to play 4-2-3-1 or he'd be good enough with his passing and timing to play in the 4-3-3 that Rodgers likes at times. I think he'd give everyone in the team and in the fanbase a huge lift and may go some way in ensuring Suarez wants to stay put as it will demonstrate they are continuing an upward trajectory.
I, for one would love a player like Alonso at Arsenal, but he is a Liverpool fan and I think it's where he left his heart in England. I hope they do get him because I want to see Liverpool back where they belong... even if it means it'll make things harder for us.
