Totally agree with Yaya. What a beast he's been this season.
RVP over Falcao and Ibrahimovic? Some of you are crazyyy bro.
There have been too many good players donning the game, so FIFA just decided to put on the players who always make it because of their club, and national play. ( I think)
Guys,All of you should understand that this XI is not to do with who is a better player but who performed better at 2012 Season!
@Vendetta
you complain about the 5 players of Barcelona saying that they didnt achieve anything but at the same time you Recommend Gerrard(!!!) to be in the list.
Few EPL fans should now understand that Lampard and Gerrard arent anymore at their best now.They are getting old.Both have helped their teams a lot all over the previous years but now they cant be compared to Iniesta for example..
Also i have to add that barcelona players won a EURO except for a copa del rey.
Now people are saying Cazorla to be included in the XI.
I Admire Santi so much,since years now(villarreal,malaga),But cannot see people who didnt even know him before joining arsenal to say that he must be on the list,i think its irony.
If i had come here on the forum last year and i had said that Santi is top midfielder and probably at the top 10 the most of you would have laughed and told me that he is not even great.
A perfect example i think its Michu,all people now talking for him like he is "Maradona" but last year no one knew that there was a player called Michu!
I dont think that in order to be a top player your team must win trophies to prove it.
The examples are uncountable.(Suarez,Fellaini,Vidal other years,Cassano,Mandzukic last year,Cavani,RVP,Cazorla all the time,Ba,Thiago silva and this list never ends)
Another great example would be Abidal,All this years he has won everything with Barcelona.Probably more than any other left back in the world,does that mean that because his team has won a lot of he is the better for example than Ashley cole? i dont think so.
When you decide to make an XI you dont have to take into consideration what a players team has won,but how the player performed that season.
As for this year i would be as clear as i can.
all the players in the XI are awesome and deserve to be in that list because of their skills,work etc of all time,but last year there have been players that performed better.
Pique-->OUT,bad season for his standarts
Alves--->OUT,the same.
Iker-->Out,Mediocre season,he is there because spain won the EURO.hart,neuer,Buffon and Cech had a better season than him.
Xavi-->Mediocre Season with Barca,Perfect EURO and great last 2 months with barcelona.But pirlo performed better,because he played better for more games than Xavi.
Now for the striker.
Falcao,Cavani,Van Persie,gomez,Aguero Were all great.No matter the final decision,whoever would be on the XI it would be fair.
OF COURSE all the above stated reasons and facts ARE MY JUST MY OPINION AND YOU DONT HAVE TO AGREE WITH IT.
For me the more suitable XI would be something like this.
Too hard too Choose GK(Hart,neuer,buffon) and striker(RVP,falcao,cavani,Gomez,Aguero)
**Coach: Jurgen Klop or Antonio Conte for this year!
**
All they should do is include a sub's bench... would save a lot of problems!!
better make a best XI for all leagues like EPL XI, LA LIGA XI, SERIE A XI.
@DonAndres: Well that's why I changed my mind and put Mata :P instead of them . But try to compare what Lampard has done, and what Xavi has done. Compare them in both performances and what they achieved that year. Lampard is now our 2nd top goal scorer 10 goals away from top goal scorer. He was a pivotal part of our CL win, FA Cup win, and even when he was injured we weren't the same. Obviously Xavi seems to be a better player from everyone's neutral point of view, but in 2012 Lampard has done much more and achieved much more than Xavi in 2012.
For Gerrard your right, he doesn't deserve to be there.
@Vendetta
Perhaps Lampard did achieve more, but he did not perform as well as Xavi. He also didn't play enough games as Xavi either. You forget, Xavi helped Spain win the EURO. That contributes LARGELY.
Spain were favorites. I don't see why it is so big when almost everyone knew they were top contenders for the trophy... In my opinion, Lampard performed MUCH better in 2012 than Xavi. Helping Chelsea win CL, FA Cup, and being 10 goals away from all time top scorer for our club is remarkable. But I won't argue if you believe Xavi was better this year. Your opinion ;).
Chelsea won the champions league last year.. enuf said!
Vendetta, Spain are only favorites specifically because of Xavi and Iniesta, and rarely because of Cesc/Silva. Not because of Mata or Cazorla or anyone else. Without Iniesta or especially Xavi, there would be no Spain.
buffon
Lahm vidic puyol marcello
iniesta pirloronaldo RVP messi falcao
So, take out Ineista and Xavi and you believe Spain would have not been favorites? Are you sure you are not being a bit bias? They are amazing and a pivotal part of the squad, but don't expect Spain not to win it because no Xavi or Ineista.
Yes I strongly believe that actually. It's like taking out Hazard and Mata out of the current Chelsea squad..
You make a good point there. I guess they do deserve a place there, but so many good players would be left out. Maybe a 4-2-2-2? In the bottom two would be Pirlo and Xavi. The middle/CAM two would be Ineista and Mata. Then the top two would be RVP and Messi. The only problem is I'm missing Ronaldo who does not have his position in my formation.
I wonder what THIS years willl be.... so much going on right now!
Anyone else see the world XI today? I must say I respectfully disagree with the inclusion of Marcelo, Alves and Xabi Alonso. Falcao was a beast but he has fierce competition with players like RVP, Lewandowski and Ibra. IMO Pirlo deserves to be there and Lahm needs to be there. The fact that only Barca and Madrid players were in it highlights their dominance or UEFA's subtle bias. Also Borussia Dortmund beat teams like ManCity and Real Madrid, surely teams like them should be credited as well. Like an underdog team of the year or some shit like that.
In a personal note I'm so happy to see that Abby Wambach received the FIFA women's award. What's disappointing is the lack of attention about this here in the US. The fact that an American woman received such a prestigious award (amongst people like Lionel Messi) should be proof that this beautiful sport is slowly increasing in popularity here in the USA.
Oh also Stoch's goal was good but not as amazing as Papiss Cisse's goal (against Chelsea) or Ibra's goal (you know which one). Sad they didn't even make it to the Puskas top three :(
Enough with my rant. I'd love to see your versions of the World XI. This one's mine:
GK: Casillas
DEF: Lahm, Chielini, Thiago Silva, Ramos
MID: Cazorla, Pirlo, Iniesta
ATT: Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Messi
inb4 obvious knibis reply:"EPL sucks...panties on a line...herp derp..."
Cheers!
