Well, I can't really say anything because I was never around when these players were in their prime.
In my eyes, those players are just about spot on. I'd like to nominate a few players though.
Franco Baresi - Italian defender, one of the best in history.
Eusebio - Portugal
Ferenc Puskas - The greatest goalscorer in history. Has accomplished more than Pele in his career. I find that Puskas ought to replace Pele on that list.
Sir Bobby Charlton - Brilliant English midfielder.
Cristiano Ronaldo - Maybe in a few years time. ;)
Marco Van Basten - Netherlands
Ronaldo - Brazil. Would've been one of the greatest strikers ever if not for his injuries. Still one the most naturally talented center forwards I have ever seen play.
Dino Zoff - Italy.
And there's of course a whole host more, like Garrincha, Socrates, Zico, Platini, Buffon, Casillas, Figo, etc.
No one will ever beat Lev Yashin as the best GK ever. The man gave strikers nightmares. Even Pele could never score against him.
Picking just 11 players in all of history is pretty much as close to an impossible task as ou can have. Of course there will always be LOTS of legends that will be left out.
That said, this is about a good a job as I could ever muster. Nothing to add.
If you want a list of ALL the greats that could/should rightly be considered for a 25man roster ... well I;d have to really take some time to think about that. PS- still wouldn't be enough room.
Klinsmann? REALLY?
Cantona... was great... but best of all TIME? NO.
No Heskey? Pfffff, yeah right..
