Wikipedia editors biased for Barcelona?

Well, I frequently check up on Ronaldo's Wikipedia page, and the oddest thing happened recently. About a year ago, someone added "...considered to be one of the greatest players of all time", but that got removed from his biography and got thrown down all the way to his "Style of Play", which one can see after a lot of scrolling. Now, even that has been removed. Do you guys think that it's bias against Ronaldo?

This is what it says for other Barcelona players.

Messi

Seems fair enough for me. A true legend.

Xavi

Also very well deserved.

Iniesta

Indeed.

CR7

And that's it. Xavi is hailed as one of the greatest midfielders in history (per Wikipedia), but Ronaldo (who is heralded to be even greater) is not. Bias, or not?

Hehe, I guess it's a bias. Most of the research wikipedia admins put in are just based of stats, and they are rarely updated.

Maybe bias not for Barça, but against CR7, Messi has nothing to do in Ronaldo description. Ronaldo has many chances to force the respect, starting from the CL final. Wikipedia are not an official website, dont pay much attention to this, its writen by one user and its only his opinion not the website one.
Ballon d' Or means nothing for both players, Ronaldo can be greater if his palmares is bigger, if Real Madrid wins it with a Ronaldo goal, you will see how everyone would recognize his talent...

@Tiki

Yeah, I guess you're right. The Barca players' descriptions seem fine, but the CR7 one is biased.

Dont get me wrong guys, Ronaldo is an amazing player and the best Football athlete i have seen, but this décima can change his story. If he is decisive and makes Real Madrid win it, he will write a beautiful story that people will remember...
Football needs iconic moments, like Zidane CL final volley or his goals in the world Cup or Euro.
Im just saying that Ronaldo will get the rank he deserves, and he deserves to be one of the best if he makes his team win this Décima and other titles.
He already did a great CL final scoring an important goal with Man Utd, if he can do the same at Real Madrid, the recognition will be at it best.
Milito and Drogba careers changed drastically after winning CL to their clubs, in the fans mind and in History in general.

Im not saying i will support Madrid, but if they win CL, i will be happy for Ronaldo/Benz and Ronaldo will have the credit he deserves for years.

If Ronaldo wins World cup for Portugal, he could even outshine Messi in History and if Messi wins it, he will outshine Maradonna probably...
History is cruel, it depends only on results and beautiful stories, many were amazing but forgotten but achievements last for ever specially final games...

@Tiki

Oh, I wonder how history would have treated Roberto Baggio if he had scored that penalty against Brazil in '94. :/

+1 btw.

please don't open that wound again Dyna :D
i think it's bias against Ronaldo btw, because as you can see they've found a way to put Messi's name in his description, while there's no trace of Ronaldo's name in Messi one. for Par Condicio you either name both of them in both descriptions, or you just don't.

^ Agreed shpalman.
For Baggio, those who saw him play will remember him for ever but he would have been more known if he scored that PK.
I watched Calcio with my uncle when i was young, i was supporting Bologna mainly due to Guisepe Signore :) i was 9 yo.
They had an amazing League that time, with Batistuta at Fiorentina, Edmundo and chiesa at Parma and all the big Italian clubs were full of stars : Vieri, Zidane, Blanc, Maldini... The old good time.

Here is a video of Baggio, for the younger users.

I wonder how big Would be Zidane if he scored the header against Buffon in extra times in 2006 ?

He did in this World cup a performence that could be compared to Maradonna in 1986, leading a good team (not the best ) to a world cup final...

In 3 World cups : He won 1 and almost could have won 2 with a nation that never won it before. In 2002 he was ill, so the whole team was ill :), when Zidane is on form, all the team is on form.

But what happened is that Buffon stopped this header, and gave World cup to Italy. History will remember, Zidane panenka and 1998 headers against Brazil which is already an incredible story.

@Tiki

man i loved the good ol' Juve-BVB matches, Baggio started and then he handed them to Del Piero. in the video there's 2 points which are majestic 1:16 and 3:39, the latter being a 2-pass goal Pirlo-Baggio (on the bench there was Mazzone, one of Guardiola's mentors. ).

i think i finally know the right term to explain why Messi is not a special player in my eyes, surely an amazing one, but not special in the way i mean it. he's too *linear*.

*meaning that most of the times you already know what he's going to do, to the point that he doesn't surprise you anymore. CR7 is already less linear than Messi. but those players who i think they're truly special, are those who are absolutely not* linear at all. with that kind of players you never know what's going to happen, or anyway they can pull stuff out of nothing, stuff that your logical reasoning couldn't compute in that moment while you watch as spectator. dunno if you get what i mean. that's why i value a player like Zola more than a player like Messi.
Messi is an amazing player, Zola is a special one.

Yep, you're right about the linear thing. Messi may be better than Maradona, but Maradona was always more entertaining.
