Who I Wants Spurs To Buy This Summer

I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and I've actually come to the conclusion that I really would prefer not to go for some 'silver bullet' signing up-front, and instead go with a lot of cheaper, but promising players.

So, what I would LOVE to see in the upcoming transfer window would be:

Christian Eriksen
Samuel Umtiti
Son Heung-Min
Mohamed Salah
Cristian Tello
Mohamed Diame
Tom Ince

Forget signing David Villa. He's a legend, but he's also old and fragile, and I'm just not convinced he'd be what we'd need him to be, anyway. For the price Barcelona are asking for, we could pick up at least 2 of the names on my list (aside from Eriksen), and I think they'd be better investments.

How to pay for it all? Well, I'd push to sell the following:

Emmanuel Adebayor
Jake Livermore
David Bentley (yes, he's still ours :p)
Benoit Assou-Ekotto
Tom Huddlestone

We'd still need to stump up some serious cash for Eriksen, I believe, but aside from that, I think we'd be able to cover a large chunk of the transfer funds by selling off those guys.

Also, with the return of Danny Rose, Andros Townsend and any of our other young loanees deemed 'ready', I think Spurs would have excellent cover and rotation for AVB's favored 4-3-3 system. I'd see it line up as follows:

Lloris
Walker -- Kaboul -- Vertonghen -- Rose
Lennon -- Sandro -- Dembele
Bale -- Holtby -- Eriksen

With Holtby deployed as a No. 10, and Sandro holding down DM.

We'd have SO MUCH DEPTH on that formation, if we bought my youngsters, and I think it would be great.

Any thoughts?

Eriksen as a winger?
Better go for Tello then for that position.
There is some interest from Borrussia Dortmund to replace Gotze.
Frank de Boer said yesterday in a interview that Jurgen Klopp already called to congratulate Ajax with winning the league but probably also inquire about Eriksen.

@jvh1312: yeah, I heard about BVB's interest. It's hard to imagine Eriksen choosing Spurs over Dortmund, given the choice. :/ I'd still like Tello, though.

@tiki_taka: Kelvin, hmm? Hadn't thought about that, though Jackson Martinez did cross my mind. AVB's connection to Porto would help, but, Porto aren't shy about setting high transfer fees.

I guess we'll just see what happens.

Eriksen would probably fit better in BVB than in any of the current squads in EPL anyway.

The Porto of Portugal. I don't want to sell. Even if I didn't have a choice. Which I don't have. :'(

@golden porto is good in finding great players, and they win a lot of money in transfer market, as Benfica. French teams are jealous of portuguese teams. going to south america to find promising players isn't easy but you know how to do it. you will find plenty of talented players and you will sell them to big teams cause your team is good at i.for fans, seiing stars come every year isn't bad cause when they leave you win a lot of money and other will arrives.

True, but selling key player after key player is nothing but sad -- even if we get a lot of money. Constantly selling our best players means we have to replace them, which takes time.

I just imagine where we would be if we slightly braked it up. Watching key players and managers desert, such as Pepe, Carvalho, Hulk, Falcao, AVB and Mourinho, to mention a few, is no easy job to compensate. I'll never get used to it, simply because they cannot be replaced.

The same case is for Benfica of course. Imagine where they would be today with David Luiz, Ramires, Coentrão, Di Maria, Javi Garcia, Witsel and so many more.

And sorry, Lodatz, for babbling about off topic matters. Inattentive by me. I think Levy should just focus on getting a proper striker. That alone will aid you extremely till next season.

Feeling self indulgent, so, here's some fun musings from by brain.

Tottenham next season:

Walker and Dembele would operate as wing-backs, a-la Juventus, though be encouraged to press forward, hence the flat 3 CBs at the back. The front 3 could rotate in-game as needed, with Moutinho linking everyone in together.

Rotation/Depth:

CB -- Caulker, Botia, Diakite
RWB/RM -- Lennon, Naughton, Holtby, Smith
LWB/LM -- Rose, Umtiti, Holtby, Naughton, Fryers (Vertonghen)
DM -- Diame, Holtby, Livermore, Carroll (Dembele, Vertonghen)
CAM -- Holtby, Siggurdsson, Carroll, Pritchard (Dembele)
RAM -- Lennon, Townsend, Dempsey, Salah, Tello (Son, Villa)
LAM -- Townsend, Dempsey, Salah, Tello, Siggurdsson (Bale, Villa)
CF -- Defoe, Tello, Salah, Dempsey (Bale, Son)

Names in (parentheses) are players already in the First XI who could cover the positions.

What do you reckon? Might cost a pretty penny, but that would be quite the squad, methinks.
