There are some lines missing, but oh well. Thanks for fixing it anyways! :)
Wow! 6th place without Messi? Great post, Dynastian. Thanks for sharing.
44% for Messi and 38% for Ronaldo
Great work, Dynast. This was very interesting. :)
:P Imagine us against bigger teams
FC Barcelona
Taking away Messi goals (not assists)-33 points in the league, Barcelona would be sitting in 6th place (behind Sociedad and Valencia and 1 point ahead of Betis) if they didn't have Lionel Messi score so many goals.
NOW, I know this is taking into consideration that we JUST deprive Barca of Messi's goals, and not Valencia of Soldado's goals, but this study is focused SOLELY on Messi and Ronaldo. In the Copa del Rey, Messi's goals do not make a difference to the scoreline. Barca would have still beaten Alaves and Cordoba, won against Malaga on away goals, and still lose to Madrid. In Europe, Barca would get out of their group with 10 points (tied with Celtic), and would have to face Milan in ET or penalties.
Assuming they still manage to beat Milan, they would've lost to PSG 3-2 on aggregate.
Real Madrid
Taking away Ronaldo goals (not assists)-14 points in the league, Real would be sitting in third place with 60 points, just 2 ahead of Sociedad, and 8 behind Atletico. Same as the other study, we are leaving Barcelona WITH Messi for Ronaldo's study, and leaving Madrid WITH Ronaldo's goals for Messi's study. In the Copa del Rey, Madrid would have been knocked out by Celta in the round of 16 without Ronaldo's 4 goals.
In Europe, Madrid 7 points, with only a 1 point lead over Ajax. They would also get knocked out by United without Ronnie's 2 goals in the Round of 16.-------------------
So in conclusion, it appears that Barcelona are more dependent on Messi than Real is on Ronaldo, and AGAIN I try to stress the matter, BARCA NEED MORE ATTACKING OPTIONS. Not just Alexis or Pedro or Tello, no. They need QUALITY attacking options. Sort of like Villa in his prime. Especially since Barcelona struggle to score in the big games without Messi playing. As for Madrid, we DIE in cup competitions without Ronaldo.
Messi scores a LOT of his goals in La Liga, but Ronaldo is all-rounded. His ratio of goals in all competitions is basically identical. So in the league it may not have much of a difference as Messi's goals, but Real would be hammered in cup competitions without him.
And for those interested, Ronaldo has scored 39% of Madrid's goals, and Messi has scored 40% of Barcelona's.
