What's the problem with Arsenal?

English newspapers described Arsenal's loss to Monaco as shocking and unexpected. Did anyone expected that Monaco, team which scored only 4 goals in group stage, will score 3 goals at Emirates Stadium. And that exactly happened. And is it coincidence that they scored 3 goals to Arsenal? No, it isn't.

Wenger blamed 'suicide defense', but didn't he noticed that he has in formation 4 players which are going over centre line when they are going to locker room - Alexis, Ozil, Welbeck and Lord Giroud, which had 5 chances for goal, but all 5 times he shot to nothing. Not close to goal, even from 5 metres. And 56% of accurate passes just confirm that he had bad game.

Wenger replaced him in 60 minute. Giroud was mad some days ago when he noticed that Arsenal wants new attacker. Wenger wants 'predator', player which can score many goals in almost every chance. He found him. It's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, from Borrusia Dortmund. Reportedly Tottenham put bid for him, but 'Gunners' made 40 million euros.

But if we look at silly tactics and losses, Wenger won't have him. It seems like logic step to fire Wenger and give job to good trainer. In football we don't live from history. Arsenal spent more than 100 million euros for players. And we have world class squad. But, again, why we can't win any trophies? League is lost after few games at start. So win against Monaco and historical quarter-final would be expected. Now it's hard for Monaco to lose in Monte Carlo against Arsenal at this form. Again, disappointing season.

Gooners are 'belching fire' on every Wenger's step. On FB, Twitter and Instagram people are discussing is Wenger most overrated menager ever or his team plays bad.

The thing is in Wenger. We have potential in Arsenal. But we don't have real menager.

I think every Gooner would support our club if Wenger gets fired.

Who would coach us? We would end like United when SAF retired. What we learned from this match:
Cazorla is not a CDM midfielder.
Ozil back to his lazy days, after few good performances.
Giroud got bad day, well it happens, but missing empty net is pathetic.
Welbeck on the wing is useless, bring Henry to coaching staff and let these 2 train finishing till they will be able to hit at least the empty net.
Ox to CDM? Idiotic sub, he lost like 3/4 balls. Yea, he scored great goal but then costed us 3rd, which lead to Mertesacker. How? How in this universe is this guy WORLD CHAMPION, and ARSENAL CAPTAIN? This guy totally don't care about the game, he's slower than my grandma. With his height you think that he's winning at least aerial duels, but he's not. This guy is nowhere near world class and have nothing to bring to our team. I can do better than him.

^ Wenger is just too old for this. He can't coach us anymore. If Henry will come to club, that would be great. Our attack would be better. Agree with everything you said.

Arsenal needs to rethink their philosophy and a change in style. I respect Wenger for always managing to stay in the top 4 year after year, but I think it's time for him to leave now. Arsenal need a manager, who - contrary to Wenger - tailors his tactics to the oppositions' playing style instead of dying "in beauty". Simeone would come to my mind, he surely would have a refreshing effect on the squad. I also think that he would be able to bring out the best of lazy players like Özil and Giroud with his motivational personality.

Additionally to that, Arsenal really need a tall & strong CDM who can hold the ball and is good at passing (Khedira? Krychowiak? Song? Busquets? Schneiderlin?) instead of their midget CDMs and maybe a striker with a good technique like Jackson Martinez, too.

  1. playing giroud <-- this guy has no consistency ( When will walcott start?!)

  2. BFG is slow. would prefer chambers during the monaco game. wrong move from BFG and kos leads to conceding 1 goal each.

  3. Ozil lazy like quikzyyy said.

  4. during the game, our midfield hold the ball too long. it is mainly due to tight defensive from monaco side.

  5. we need a strong CDM. SOLID and STRONG. i kinda missed Arteta :l

  6. wenger should just play welbeck and sanchez up front. NOT GIROUD

We cannot be where we are if wenger is fired. so keep calm gooners because we still can turn things around on the 2nd leg. In ARSENE i trust. :)

Don't forget this one guys.

Yeah, that team was something special but it's not over. We conceded 3 goals from 3 shots, we can score 3 goals from 3 shots. We scored 3 times and almost did it against Milan. I still believe that we can somehow do it. We just need to play player who want to win, not to walk on the pitch.

If Wenger every year fails to recognize that teams are build from defense and ending with solid attack then Arsenal will be always beaten like kids . Wow can I go on forever about how abysmal Arsenal's defense and midfield was .

Every year since 2007 , I think , many Arsenal fans , other fans and pundits keep saying the same . Fix your defense and get good strong CDM and buy a world class striker who scores at least 20+ goals a season . Yet , he goes and buys midfielder or another average player to solve the issues . This year you got Sanchez , did he help you yesterday ? No.

It must be very frustrating to be Arsenal fan because I am not a fan and I get frustrated watching Arsenal play or do their transfer business .

Arsene Wenger still has my respect but he does not have my support ( not that I am Arsenal fan ) however, if Arsenal is representing England in CL then I am just as much of gooner and I hate the way Arsenal lost last night . I know Arsenal are better than that but team set up and everything from Wenger starting simple motivation and mental readiness was terrible and ludicrous .

@@jimbet

All your main problems are in defense and CDM . Monaco was bullying your small weak midfielders not just with their technicality but with physicality . You want your creative players to flourish then get good CDM and defenders who can cover their as*

HOW FAST WAS DIMITAR RUNNING ? 1.5 miles per hour perhaps ? How many steps he made before taking a shot ... wow that takes some very awful performance to allow such goal someone of 34 years of age with such a pace

Arsenal problem that wasnt with the ball, but when they lost the ball no one was pressing, Ozil-Cazorla were like ok they got the ball lets wait till someone get it back, but who were fisghting for it in midlefield ? The fact that Kondogbia had more time and space to shoot, he could have built a house with the space and time they gave him.
And sorry but the tall defenders era ( very slow ) is over years ago, now a defender should be technical and very tactical, defense playing as one block or unit...

Arsenal could have scored first and things would have been different, but hey when you play that high if you dont press to recover the ball quickly, it will never work, where is Ozil of Madrid ?

If Monaco hada faster player than Berbatov, the score would have been much worse, Arsenal even after 0-1 disrespected Monaco and went all in way earlier, got surprised twice like amators...

Ramsey role was lacking to them and they needed experience in this sort of games, thats a knock out stages, you cant have a bad day as a player and credit should also be given to Jardim and his players who did the perfect game.

Monaco were intelligent, they smelled the Arenal weakness at the back and started going forward in second half, a parking bus team would have secured the 0-1 but Monaco was right to try to do the break, Jardim and his men surprises me more and more, a team with a spirit, they win games even with 10 men and spirit is whats most important in Football after quality.

Arsenal didnt play as bad. When I see them play, I wish United played with such personality as they do. Arsenal know how to play great football but when you dont finish those ridiculously clear chances then you cant expect to do any better. They play nice football, they create chances but in a team were the defense is lousy the rest of the team cant get that confidence that lets them attack way better.

Arsenal needs time, yes more time. There are certain players on the team which are key to their system that are new or relatively new, so I they deserve some some time to get along. That and a couple of new additions like another CB or a decent cdm or at least someone to make the difference in the lower part of the pitch, all that hierarchy up front but not much in the back.

Also, something Ive said a bunch of times now. Arsenal should hold on to Arsenal. just like quikzyyy said, the team could face a significant decrease in their football just like what happened to United when we dropped 7 places from one season to another; that is when you realize the hell of a job a certain manager does at a club. You guys are really going to miss him when he leaves.

I still think Arsenal can turn this around, very difficult but not impossible.

@Horse - Why do you havea Spurs avatar??

Arsenal are like barca without end product. They pass and pass without threatening the goal. "They always trying to walk it in. When humour is too close to reality. Giroud and Welbeck are not good enough. The only way Arsenal are going to get out of this cycle is to get a competent striker. They already have Özil and Sanchez. Now they just need someone who can finish.

It's kinda true wolfman Arsenal dance too much and if you counter with some pace you're basically in. I see Wenger going all out for it though definitely going to make the 2nd leg interesting.

Wenger is a great manager ( as doing his profession, otherwise he can be annoying ) , but he allows himself to be haunted by the same mistakes year after year .

I really hope they put a fight in Monaco ! If Arsenal almost made comeback against mighty Bayern of 2013 then Monaco is not exception .

3 goals are must scored !

^ Lol did you saw the 6 odd and betted on ? Lol Everton played their Main XI thursday and Wenger cant afford loosing after the CL game, Gabriel Paulista/ Koscienly did well...

Everton defeated the Young Boys, they are a good team but their big score in EL may have influenced your bet, anyway there was no guarantee that they could draw or loose, plus Arsenal only got 1.55 odd so i didnt touched this game.

My fun bet :

Monaco-Paris ( 1-0 handicap ) Win ( win or draw) : 1.5
Sevilla - Atleti : Atleti win 2.45
Valencia - Sociedad : Valencia win 1.55
Porto - Sporting : porto 1.58
Cheslea - Tottenham : Blues 1.67
Torino - Napoli ( 1-0 H ) : Torino win or draw 1.5

20 euros bet, odd : 22.54
450 euros to win.

4 games remaining, gonna be intersting :).

My serious bet already in :

Valencia - Chelsea - Glad' bach : bet 40 euros, odd : 3.88
Won 155 euros.

Arsenal poor display today again, I'm disappointed with our attacking performance. At least good defensively and finally without Mertesacker.
