More English players went abroad? Especially to places like Germany, Spain, Italy and France. Do you think it would be more beneficial for them in these international competitions? I am still in shock to see them get knocked out so early in the WC.

Here is an interesting fact: since the Premier League began only Fraser Forster, David Beckham and Owen Hargreaves make up the sum total of those who have had to be called back home for World Cup duty.

It would benefit them for sure.
One of the sad fact is, English players somehow find it hard to shine in other leagues (esp. La Liga, SerieA). The other way around is however true. like for Italian, Spanish, Brazilian etc... they always shine in EPL.

The names you mentioned are the few exception who could make it outside.

Another important fact is, beside football wise, in EPL, football atmosphere, wages, ... are pretty on top for a footballer, English player wouldn't want to go anywhere else. IMO

yes, absolutely. in countries like Spain and Italy they would improve their positioning and tactical awareness. but the last point Tuan made is very true: would you leave the EPL for another league? i wouldn't.

Yeah its better for them. Look at our Dutch squad. Van Persie (United), Robben (Bayern), Huntelaar (Schalke), Sneijder (Gala). And many more. Players need experience and they need to travel to other leagues to test them selfs and give them selfs new challenges in their carreer.

Maybe the FA should force the 20 EPL clubs to have atleast 3-4 "English" player in the starting 11 in every match in (League, FA cup and Capital One) excluded the European competition (UEFA-CL and Europa)

The same can be said for the others where Spanish, Italian, German & French players shine in the EPL in England. I think it doesn't have anything to do with the football style since each club in the EPL have a different style and different tactics.

The only thing I agree with is that most of those English players are not been given the opportunity to shine at higher level in the top 6 clubs. England's knockout from the tournament has nothing to do with this at all and in my own opinion it's a rather bad squad selection from the manager. There are a lot of young talents in England and trust me if England had a manager like Mourinho he would have probably change at least half of the selected players in the current England national team squad.

Playing in different leagues would certainly improve your game. I've seen Bale at Spurs, and now at Madrid. This is what I've noticed.

  1. His touch has improved greatly. In England, he'd rely on speed and heavy touches to burn defenders and go past them, but that's not possible in Spain. Spanish teams tend to stack defenders and midfielders really deep into the pitch, so there's hardly any space behind them for Bale to run on to. He's improved his touch incredibly to make up for the lack of space in the final third, and is now capable of dribbling out of tight situations.

  2. His decision-making has improved greatly. Asides from di Maria, Bale has had the most assists out of any Madrid player, and his decision-making for crossing, passing, and taking shots has impressed even the most optimistic of Madrid fans (remember, Madridistas were not fond of Ozil leaving, and didn't expect the 100 Million on Bale to ever be paid off).

  3. He's become more versatile. Playing alongside Ronaldo forced him out to the RW, a position he wasn't all that versatile at. He struggled at first, but then improved his game a lot and put in some very fine performances from that position. The trio of BBC also switch positions frequently, so Bale ends up in the center of the attacking trident pretty often too, and his decision-making from there is as good as it is on the wings.

Seeing how a player who was voted the best player in the EPL twice can come to a different league and improve his game, I think that other British players should be able to do the same. Italy, France, Spain, Germany.... anywhere will do. All 4 of those leagues are unique and great.

Well, i predicted it before World Cup, the first thing to have is a coach who already won World Cup as a player or a coach and give him enough time to build a team and find a style.

Exit all the players who did nothing for 4 World cup now, and start something new...

Why Are they so stubborn to change ? That was an evidence that they would struggle with this style of play.

For this English team? Not really. This team lacks a genuine midfield playmaker who can control the tempo of the game. Gerrard is an excellent midfielder, but can not set the tempo of the game for England. The only players who I see in this team that can do that are Wilshire and Rooney. Barkley, Sterling, Sturridge, Lallana, are all good players in the attacking part of the field, but will not and can not control the tempo for the game. While players will improve their general game overall, it will be of no use till England can find another Scholes.

For a while I've thought that more british players should go abroad, I don't know why they don't go, anyone? Great to see Bale having success in Spain though.

What about Foreign players rule (limitation). For example in Turkey, After Turkey's unsuccessful years (2010,2012,2014), Football Federation made it 8, all Turkish clubs can have only 8 foreign players in their squad and 5 of them can be in the first 11.
I don't agree with this rule but what do you guys think?

England squad need some creative midfielders and good strikers. as for exposure from abroud, it's like EPL should limit foreign players in each team. 3-4 english players per team woud be a good start.
