Wayne ROONEY, ROONEY ,ROONEY rejoins Everton

Hey lads,

Wayne Rooney returns to Everton. This is HUGE news and I'm a little surprised no one is talking more about it than Lukaku joining United.

From all the years I've been a United fan, I remembered the headlines saying 'Wayne joins United for around 26 million'. This guy achieved EVERYTHING (except the World Cup, ofc) during his time with us, and I still think he is an extremely valuable player if he had stayed.

But it's finally time to hang up the boots at OT; Wayne returns to his boyhood club with his head held high and I'd like to thank him for creating all those incredible memories as a United fan. We had an amazing blast, and you will always be in my heart and soul. This man is an icon and a legend, and I hope he says fit for as long as he can at Everton.

His style a bit different than Lukaku's. Therefore he'll need time to adapt. But definitely will be more successful considering his last 2 seasons.

@Emrecan_58, yeah I think Koeman is going to utilize Wayne in a more central midfield role than an upfront striker. He isn't as lethal as he was in the previous years, but he still has that spark of quality every time he touches the ball. An excellent utility player and a fantastic signing for Everton alongside their other signings.

Liverpool should be afraid more than ever because Merseyside is going to be painted blue soon.

Rooney is, and has always has been, a person/player who attracted criticism, anger, and angst both on and off the field. In particular with the last two years, I myself have wanted to see him move on from United. But now that it's happened, and I see Lukaku coming in, something about United as a club is different. Rooney just exemplified so much that I loved about my team, the tenacity, dedication, emotion, skill, and pure willpower that made me love United. I remember in LVG's first season in a game vs Newcastle, he backtracked 70 yards on a breakaway goal he never had any realistic chance to prevent, just in case. That play, more than any goal he ever scored, stays with me as the perfect picture of Wayne Rooney. Man never gave up.

In my unprofessional opinion, I don't think he was United's best player in any season he was here. He always seemed to play second fiddle to someone else, be it Ronaldo, Van Persie, Scholes, whomever. I certainly don't think that he is a United legend. A United great, for sure. He is our club's leading goalscorer, so it feels weird to not label him as a legend, but that honestly is how I feel.

As for me, I've never known Manchester United without Wayne Rooney. His presence alone signifies Manchester United in my mind. He really is the last player who took part in the glory years - yes I know Carrick is still here but it's different. It's just different.

This is hard.

I still think we could've used Wazza, for a reduced contract of course.

I think we should have kept him for this season...at the least. But with the WC looming, I understand why he left. For me, he will always be a United legend and favorite Manchester United player!

Best move for him and for the game. Too often players leave their boyhood club and never look back. This is more than one player. The move will be idolize as respect is paid all around.

Sadly, I never liked Rooney as much as the rest of the old guard. He was all of what I thought a player should bring to the game, but he was never that "special" one with the best touch and best moves. He sure got the job done though and at the end of the day, that is what is important.

Good move for everyone concerned I think!... He is the kind of player who will be able to secure a first team place week in, week out. Firstly he will basically be the first choice striker in the team with no Lukaku. He will be playing in a brilliant team that is always improving, especially with the signings they have made, and he has the passion for a club he has supported for all his life. Man U didn't really need him any more in all honesty, and Everton needed a Striker. Yes he's on a massive wage, but they did get him free after all.
