During the playoff final match between Levski Sofia and Vereya of the Bulgarian top-flight league, in which winners would go on to the Europa League tournament, a fan threw a can of beer onto the pitch during the first half.
Vereya defender Ivan Bandalovski picked up the can and chugged the beer into his mouth then spit it out later on. Then in the 93rd minute with Levski Sofia up 1-0, Bandalovski scored a late equalizer that sent the match into extra time and then to penalties.
Even though Bandalovski made his penalty (with the power of the beer), Levski went on to win the penalty shootout 9-8.
