London XI was a great idea, the actual London XI would be scary.
On may 1st 1958 the finals of a tournament took place over the course of 3 years had ended, and the criteria is that 1 team from several European cities were allowed to take part in the tournament. As a result, the numerous London clubs needed to come to a settlement on who will be the cities representative in 1958.
Eventually, a London 11 was created. 11 of the cities best club players plus subs, specifically to play in the tournament.
We also took part in the tournament, and after defeating Birmingham City in the semi finals, the London 11 were our opponents.

The first leg was at Stamford Bridge, a tight 2-2 draw was the result, and it looked like anyone's game in Leg 2.
