VAR use in the world cup discussion :

enter image description here

Morocco with their captain Benatia and Coach Hervé Renard have adressed a request to Fifa because on their suspission on the Morocco-Portugal ref. they got denied VAR 3 times while they were right on it 3 times...

Amrabat also said that the ref Marc Geiger have asked for Ronaldo shirt at half time, which Fifa answered it in this video, you can see the paper.

First goal : Pepe at his best taking off 2 defenders while Ronaldo filling the gap left behind him. worked on training probably...

2 pks not given : VAR denied :

2 bonuses : Dives from Portugal.

enter image description here

This was the game the most unfair of the tournment, but then again there was many calls not given and manysoft calls given.

Soft call :

wrong call :

Tunisian asked for VAR being sure it was outside the box, REF ignored them in disrespective way.

Serbia vs Switzerland :

Paste controversial moments, opinion on ones i posted, opinions on the VAR use in this WC...etc

We dont analyses games much we got like 3 to watch a day and then we do not have time to discuss them, or analyse them. then it makes place to impressions, feelings, subjectivity... paste anything no one seen it or noticed it in this odd WC.

The way Sweden didn't get a penalty after Boateng foul was disgusting, same as +5 minutes of added time.

It’s even more disgraceful that you feel robbed and there is a technology to prove it then somehow the man in black decides not to give a ****. Oh dear if it’s applied on amator games some would get murdered lol

Actually, we French got a bitter taste of Victory against Aussies, well they got a pk too but man theirs was 200% a pen.

Now the real question : would VAR will be ever used against the favs ?

It did deny Neymar a penalty against Costa Rica. He's been diving harder than ever and he's yet to be booked for it which is pretty shameful.

Like I said in the other post, the issue is that it all comes down to the ref choosing to look at replay or ignore the calls to look at them. It's fucking unfair that a clear penalty can be denies because a ref wants to be stubborn. Much like goal line tech, if VAR ref says something needs to be reviewed, it has to be reviewed period. No excuses from the main ref to ignore it or anything else.

If these refs won't adapt to VAR then they need to be removed because it shows clear incompetence.

Then the problem is not VAR, it is still the human element, same as it always has been.

VAR has been quite good this tournament. It's revoked PKs, confirmed others, prevented any off-the-ball bs (seriously, look at last WC and all the messes there), you'd have to look pretty far to find a reasonable opinion that thinks it has had a negative effect on the tournament.

Obviously though, there is still some polishing that needs to be done. How the head ref can just ignore a call from the booth the review something (as has happened on several occasions) is silly to me.

Also, as far as I am aware, Geiger did not ask for Ronaldo's shirt, it was Morocco trying to get under Pepe's nerves by talking shit. That seems far more likely to me that Geiger, who is no stranger to reffing world cups, actually asking for the shirt.

If you speaking facts, I think a penalty has been awarded in 47% of games. That's more than double the amount previous. It reminds me of the DRS they use in cricket - far from perfect and probably should only be used to see if a ball crosses the line or not.

@Sun Never said he did it 100% I reported what Amrabet said to a Dutch TV, and appeared in French one... look to the video Fifa denied it. But it can be said that he messed up the result of the game fair and square.

It's either the uneducated/scared to talk VAR refs, or main referee is top stubborn and arrogant to get a second opinion on his decision. Either way, it's something FIFA should work on but keep in mind this is first big tournament with VAR.

It's not stubbornness, they simply can't rule out Germany. They would lose too much views and money if Germany went out in the group stage.

^not only time it happened this WC, and obviously FIFA is corrupt as hell but you can't really tell. It could be anything from referee's bad day to actual favorism to one side. At this moment we can't know for sure.

It is a good thing to speak out for those that can't but I felt like the team of Morocco and Serbia have played in a way that doesn't help them.
Morocco yells at the ref and acts like some aggressive victims all the time and Serbian players are the tallest at the WC and they have this tough attitude which also makes the ref think of them differently.

That said, I hope Mexico avoids playing the Swiss right after the group stage, they got into this World Cup by a ridiculous penalty against Northern Ireland, scored a goal from a foul after a corner vs Brazil as well and it's no secret that Fifa punished Mexico 10.000 swiss francks because their headquarters are in Switzerland.

Portugal - Iran game today was a shitshow... Penalty decision hugely altered Portugal's chances of going to the quarter-finals. Now they face Uruguay instead of Russia.

@Dynastian98 Another game where we are talking VAR and not football. Expect more to follow, in the knockout stages it’ll be talked about most.

I don't know what the ref saw there honestly. VAR clearly showed the situation, and he felt a need to call it anyway.

Because no one has ever talked about referring over the game before /s. That this is the first obvious "mistake" a referee has made while using VAR 30+ games into the tournament is a fantastic improvement over what we had before.

VAR helps! It's simple.

Only REF didn't, and together it takes out the beautiful games' best part...

Because without VAR it has HIGHER change of human mistakes, with VAR it's very deliberate false calls... :(

But on the other hand, as ugly as it sounds, who doesn't want to see Ronaldo and Portugal to go through? same with Spain... That's unfair, disgusting but it is one big business, fans.

It might probably be the same with Argentina tomorrow... :(...

VAR is necessary. We can discuss about some of the problems, but there is no other way to correct wrong referee decisions. Do you remember the robery of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the last World Cup? They had a great team and should have qualified to the knock-out stage. Instead, they were sent home.

Feel sorry for Nigeria and Morocco, VAR favors more big nations, it’s a fact.

Var favors those who dives. If there is an obstruction in front of knee, its an autojump and shit angle from var would result in silly pen or freekick

Var is hand sensitive. Its more rewarding to shoot at defender's hand than to shoot on goal.
