^ I would've parked the bus if it meant not conceding the 2nd goal.
There is no shame in parking the bus. It's just a very effective method of defending against possession based teams like Barcelona.
If I were Pellegrini, I'd parked the bus after Messi's goal, and then went all out at the Camp Nou. Because if City went with a 1-0 deficit, they could have some hope of scoring a couple away goals and shutting out Barca. Now they have almost no hope with Barca's second away goal.
I see your point Dynastian. Nonetheless I'm glad you can muster up some hope for Arsenal. Lord knows I can't wait for tomorrow's match! And I also can't wait for the cracker at the Camp Nou.

Spot on ! Pelegrini should have closed the shop after they went 10 men down and catch them on the break to score if it was possible .
Also it seemed to me that City at times was fearing Barcelona and did not look too confident . Either way if they kept Barca at 1:0 it would have been great . It was a good score and dangerous one for Barcelona . Score that City still could turn in their favor on aggregate away goals and progress . Now they have to pull incredible performance to keep clean sheet and score 3 goals .... basically miracle ...highly unlikely ...
However, Pellegrini's biggest mistake was starting Demichelis. My City fan friends all texted at once " we gonna loose , Demichelis is on starting line up " . You'd think Pelegrini would not step on a same rake twice . Actually multiple times , but he did .
Now that they will concentrate on EPL I hope he continues using Demichelis so he can sink City in the race for EPL title as well .

This is what happens when players are inexperienced at the top level. Man City players don't have enough experience in the CL, and that's what cost them in the end. Notice how Barcelona seem to somehow always get into the semi-finals of the CL in the last 6-7 years. It's not just that they are a good team, but also the experience they garnered on the way. They know how to win the CL, and that's what they use to win these 2 legged ties.
With the amount of weird results this season...Im going with City shocking Barca at Nou Camp, despite the 2 away goals...Im going with Burak Yilmaz and Drogba killing Chelsea...United edging through...Arsenal somehow finding some form against Bayern but still losing (repeat of last season) and PSG as dark horses for the title
Real Madrid and PSG in the final
@Dynastian98
More like they have lack of experience in Last 16 , because they did have plenty of experience in group stages. Team did not change that much for the past 3 years and we can't fully blame the loose for an inexperience of some players , but it can be regarded as one of reasons.
Anyways I always thought that team is massively underachieving . There are experienced players who played on average well over 40 games in Champions League ( roughly ) . So , we can't single out and blame CL inexperience. Inexperience is the same excuse Mancini been using for past 3 years for his failures as a coach . I always thought it was Mancini's approach to the matches that cost City group qualifications year after year . So, this year is the same problem at Etihad , but with new coach . Pellegrini failed with his tactics . He took inexperienced Malaga and Villarreal to quarter final and almost to semi final , but failed with City squad that is twice as better than Malaga or Villarreal squad was .
Even when there was a chance to still save the tie , Pellegrini failed to make appropriate changes . He took out misfiring Negredo for another misfiring player , Dzeko . Instead of changing tactics after 1:0 to save the game he did not do much and that eventually ended with another goal due to error of Lescott his sub .
Again His biggest mistake was to start or even to play Demichelis ! Not going to say why I think it was obvious
Also playing two defenders on the left flank was a sign that he showed too much respect to Barcelona . Pellegrini thus brought fear into his own team . All his pre match talk that they should play same style that they play in EPL was dismissed with Kolarov in midfield . He should have started Nasri who is experienced against Barcelona and knows their game , and then when he tried to bring him on , it was too late .
Pellegrini blamed referees for defeat . However, despite few decisions that did go wrong for City , they still could have saved the tie . Maybe knows that he made big tactical erros and tried to drive attention from himself .
I have the feeling that Galatasaray can go through. They beated Juve, so why not Chelsea?
@Marcus : Its nice you talked about City ref mistakes here and in the highlights...<< Pellegrini blamed referees for defeat . However, despite few decisions that did go wrong for City , they still could have saved the tie >>
I want to remind you what your memory should retain too, so we dont have to argue in the future.
In case many forget quickly Ref mistakes in our disadvantage and since nobody talked about it...

The 2005 edition of the Laws of the Game state that being "nearer to an opponents' goal line" means that "any part of his head, body or feet is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent typically being the goalkeeper). The arms are not included in this definition". So to be in an offside position, any part of the attacking player named in this decision has to be beyond the part of the second-last defender closest to his goal line (excluding the arms) and past the part of the ball closest to the defenders' goal line.
Handball during cross and you can see he was trying to keep it to his body ? do you really want to be harsh and give handball which was hard to avoid ? Well ok it is .
Please do not mention Chelsea . I get very emotional when I remember that match . Still not over it . If you are mentioning Eto arm then you need to watch it again . He raised his arm long into air that is a clear foul . Every player that stood in the wall knows this and Eto knew it . Or the one with Anelka claim when Pique bounce the ball with his hand that could have resulted in goal scoring situation . That was a penalty and , if to be harsh like you about Clichy , red card .
However, it is in the past lets not talk about it . We are talking about City . Everytime Barca fan trying to defend that game like it was fair , It really boils inside of me .

can you guys just let go of that game like seriously it is really annoying, the past is the past you can't change it so whats the point of talking about it, and now just focus on the next match, you don't see us crying about the red card against RM.. sooo just let it go, its seriously really annoying.
anyways, the next match should be interesting because now City are going to give everything and hopefully Aguero is back from injury, and for the love of god Pellegrini (idk if i spelled it right) stop playing Demichiel!!!!(don't know how to spell his name either). also i think Chelsea is going to win too, and on Arsenal vs Bayern it's a 40%-60%, cuz Arsenal beat them last year and were so close, and also Arsenal have better players now. AM vs Milan is very hard to decide, because Milan are Milan but AM is really doing good especially in la liga, for this one i hope AM wins. and the rest i agree with Dynasty.
@Tiki
You're absolutely right. Cesc was wrongly ruled offside, and that should've been a goal. However, despite Kolarov's handball being a clear penalty, it happened so fast I don't blame the referee for not calling it. The good thing is that the referee called Demichelis' foul perfectly right, and gave him the deserving red card.
@Dynast Its not a big deal in Spain, but thankfully that was against us, imagine if it was for City or any other English side....
Anyway, Wayne_Rooney is right, i know its annoying but maybe if the people felt it themselves, they may stop complaining too.
"Manuel Pellegrini's complaints weren't echoed by one of City's talismans, Yaya Toure, who praised Barcelona and refused to blame the refereeing."We didn't lose because of the referee,we lost because Barça are still the world's best team", "
Football club is like a family even if it is temporary family . Everyone knows whether family member right or wrong you never go against family in public ( in football not just club but fans as well ) . You can argue in your "house" and discuss it . Yaya should have kept those words to himself or in the zone of dressing room , but to say to the press on the same day after match ? It is disrespect to Pellegrini who is ripping his guts trying to blame referees and keep the momentum of form City been having . Whether he is right or wrong , player should never go against his coach like this in public . I call it disrespect and unprofessionalism and betrayal to the coach , club , fans and teammates. Kompany like a true captain was defending his team saying that they were just as good as Barca but not Yaya . All the Barca players would always "sing the same song " that their coach "sang" even if he is wrong . Especially during Pep Guardiola times , it is like they were all thinking like one . It never mattered , players duty is simply to back his teammate , coach , club and fans .
I am sure Pellegrini is mad at Yaya right now for disrespecting him publicly . This will create some negativity in dressing room .
Lol What the hell , in all honesty , I am glad , because it will only be better for us . :D

lol wtf? Yeah I am sure Yaya and Pellegrini spend most of their time plotting girly gossip revenge and who cut who's view. That argument is retarded beyond belief.
I was right for half of them so far. :D
Barca beat City.
PSG comfortably beat Leverkusen.
Atletico comfortably beat Milan.
Bayern beat Arsenal, and like I said, it was closer than it initially seemed. :)
Yeah, i think you will get 8 of them right, i still think United will qualify.
Now the 1 Million dollar question is who is Arsenal going to face in the next stage of the Champions League?
Chelsea vs. Galatasaray
Knowing that Chelsea are one of the top teams in England, and also throwing in the fact that Real Madrid blew Galatasaray away by scoring 10 goals against them in the group stage, Mourinho's men should have little trouble going into the quarter-finals. One thing to look forward to in this tie is club-legend Didier Drogba's return to the Bridge.
Prediction: Chelsea victory
Barcelona vs. Manchester City
Probably the most exciting feature of our Ro16 in 2014 (Arsenal fans may say otherwise), the two heavyweights in England and Spain will bare their teeth against each other in this tight contested two-legged tie. The Etihad Stadium looks like a fortress, and I fully expect Manchester City to win this one at home. However, playing in the Camp Nou is probably the last thing anyone wants. Another interesting fact: Manuel Pellegrini has never beaten Barcelona with Villareal, Malaga, or Real Madrid.
Prediction: Barcelona victory
Manchester United vs. Olympiakos
A disappointing season for United this year, however, I see them possessing too much quality to bow down to the Greek outfit. If United are to lose, they will lose to a team that possesses more quality than them, and Olympiakos is not one of them.
Prediction: Manchester United victory
Real Madrid vs. Schalke
Madrid have shipped 6 goals in their last 2 visits to Germany, and don't have very fond memories. However, Schalke are not of the same caliber as Bayern or Dortmund, and out of the seven German and Spanish teams in the last 16, Schalke and Leverkusen are the only two who are not considered to be contenders for the title.
Prediction: Real Madrid victory
PSG vs. Bayer Leverkusen
Zlatan Ibrahimovic's ego is too big to accept a defeat to Leverkusen (Lol, I'm joking). Anyways, the former Ligue 1 champions are unlikely to lose to Leverkusen, especially with their performances against Barcelona last season. PSG are a dangerous team, so don't be surprised if they make it to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Prediction: PSG victory
Dortmund vs. Zenit
Zenit recorded the lowest ever sum of points a team has managed to qualify out of the group stage with. They are not of the same caliber as any of the teams in the last 16 (asides from maybe Olympiakos). Even if Dortmund have not had the best of seasons this year, I still predict that they will defeat Zenit without much difficulty.
Milan vs. Atletico Madrid
AC Milan are not the force they used to be. They are a poor, poor side. In contrast, Atletico are hammering just about any and every team in La Liga, and are tied for 1st place in the league. However, Atletico have lost 3 of their last 4 matches, and conceded 7 goals, whilst only scoring 3. Poor form may be a key factor as the first match will be in San Siro, but I still believe that Atletico have too much quality for Milan to handle.
Prediction: Atletico Madrid victory
Arsenal vs. Bayern Munchen
Oh my. Poor Wenger. Has had to face either Bayern or Barcelona in 4 of the last 5 seasons. I'm afraid he's going to get the full force of the Bavarian giants this time. But unlike popular beliefs, I do certainly think that Arsenal possess more quality than people credit them for, and have a genuine chance of beating Bayern. This tie, for me, is closer than people seem to think. Bayern won't find it easy to win against Wenger's boys, but I think that they will edge it out in the end.
PS. Wenger vs. Guardiola has yielded 2 victories for Pep, 1 draw, and 1 victory for Arsene.
Prediction: Bayern victory
What about you guys? What do you think?
