I would really like to know the top 5 clubs you guys believe are the biggest rivals of your club and witch club takes the other more seriously as a rival etc and why they are you're rival.

my list is as follows
1.Real Madrid (Long history, both successful, civil war and franco past) seriousness level is 50/50. we take eachother just as seriously and look forward to the matches equally as much.

1. Espanyol (Both in the city of Barcelona, Espanyols spanish identity.) seriousness definitely leans towards Espanyol, they hate us alot more then we hate them and they look forward to the match more. and the matches at the Cornella el prat are way more intense then the ones at Nou camp now. but I as an individual hate them just as much and look forward to the match just as much as the Real Madrid game.

2. Athletic Bilbao (Both historical la liga clubs, clubs with similar identity and ideology.) This rivalry is purely sport and is not motivated politically like the two above.. both teams are very similar the only difference being Bilbao's basque only player policy. the matches are definitely more intense in San Mames and Bilbao takes the match slightly more seriously as a rivalry, but we are almost as pumped up by the match.

3. Chelsea ( 6 meetings in the last 9 champions leagues) Both teams have a very recent history of playing each other and Barca and Chelsea are used to each other at this point. with the eliminations being tied at 2-2 and the 2 group stage meetings in 06-07 ended in Chelsea s favour with a 2-1 win at the bridge and a 2-2 draw at camp nou.. making it 3-2 in general in Chelsea's favour. The tie is famous for Controversy, and Drama and I myself am looking forward to the next meeting.

4. Athletico Madrid (History of Intense highscoring matches and combined hatred for Real Madrid), With Athletico's growing competitiveness in the domestic and european game, Barca and Athletico is only bound to get more heated, but even before Athletico's amazing revival, the matches between us are always thoroughly entertaining, and with both clubs hating madrid, we looked forward to meeting eachother and kind of saw the match as a madrid hatred derby, who can edge the game of the madrid haters. We have ran into each other on numerous occasions in the cup witch also are very interesting affairs. But if Athletico keeps playing this way and becomes a permanent competitor in la liga, the match will take on even more imlications and could grow to be La liga's second clasico.

Thats my list right there, what about you guys.. don't be sour and start arguements with other teams fans, remember without our rivals then your own club won't have any motivation to be the best.

There is no rivarly with Bilbao!!
Athletic fans and Basque people in general have great respect for Barcelona.
So does the Catalans for Bilbao and Baskonia!

My favorite rivalry between two clubs of different nationalities is definitely Barcelona vs Chelsea. Glad to know you think the same :)

The other four would be ManUtd, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool

1. 1860 München:
   should be self-explanatory, second biggest club in
   Munich. fierce rivalry, "sadly" 1860 has been dwelling in 2. Bundesliga
   for almost 10 years now.

2. 1. FC Nürnberg:
      regional rivalry.
      Nürnberg is the federal capital of Franken (Franconia), which is part
      of Bavaria. But Franconians often don't see themselves as part of
      Bavaria, with Munich being their archenemy :) also, Nürnberg was record
      champion of Bundesliga for 60 years until Bayern passed them in 1987. a fierce rivalry

3. Borussia Dortmund:
   you could have guessed this one. great rivalry in the 90s, it is now at the same or even a higher level as it was back then.

4. Schalke 04:
   as
   long as I can think, Schalke have been rivals of Bayern. But I think
   they hate us more than we hate them, probably because of the 2001 season
   final (look it up if you don't know) and maybe because Schalke hasn't
   won a Bundesliga title in more than 50 years.

5. Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen:
   regional rivalry, north vs. south, not as fierce as the other ones

1. • 18.: rest of Bundesliga. basically everyone hates Bayern :D
