In my opinion few things looks better than a perfectly hit freekick, and i while watched a freekick compliation of David Beckham i came to wonder who is really the five greatest freekick takers too have played in the Premiership during the last decade?

Heres my Top 5:

  1. Mikel Arteta
  2. Cristiano Ronaldo
  3. Morten Gamst Pedersen
  4. Frank Lampard
  5. David Beckham

Your thoughts?

Replace Pedersen and Arteta with Gerrard and Rooney, and keep the rest :)
But a notable mention would be Bale

@nanda Yeah, i thought of putting Gareth as a honourable mention, Arteta is arguable but Pedersen definately deserves a top five position, Gerrard, Thierry Henry and Sebastian Larsson could replace Arteta i guess.

Last decade? So back when Juninho, Ronaldinho and Pirlo were still playing in the top level. I'm shocked you didn't include them.

My top 5:

  1. Didier Drogba
  2. Ronaldinho
  3. David Beckham
  4. Andrea Pirlo
  5. Juninho

Ooooh. The greatest EPL free-kick takers of the last decade...

How stupid of me to not read the title correctly hehe :P

But doesn't Beckham not count then since he left in 2003?

@quikzyyy I said earlier that he could take Arteta's place on the list, its just that Arteta still plays in the Premier League so i thought of him first.

@ Yeah i know that, its just that he came to mind earlier and i to be honest during his stay at Everton he may have been as good as Henry at freekicks.

Ronaldo and Beckham have to be in 1st and 2nd for this list definitely. Lampard is a decent fk taker but very few in the world can be compared with what Ronaldo did while in the EPL or Beckham throughout is career. Either if it is about consistency or precision, both of them deserve the top spots.

I cried a little when I watched this video considering Ronaldo just signed his new contract with Madrid...

Ronaldo always looks happier in footage of his days at United.

@Tuanis: If the year 2003 didn't count Ronaldo would definitely be in my top 2. But since it does count, it would be impossible to not put Zola over Ronaldo. As all Chelsea fans know, Zola learned his free kicks from the great Diego Maradona and has put it to use in so many occasions in the EPL. Check the video @Alex posted to see exactly how good and efficient he was at it.
