Not surprised there are 4 English clubs in the top 10. English is the international language, and it requires no language barriers for English matches (because they will always be done by English commentators). Makes it easier to get more exposure to the British side of the game.
There are many ways , but one of the most used ways is count registered fans . I am registered Chelsea fan .
Damn didnt know it lives 350 million people in Manchester.

wow... now I just feel like one of the bunch
this list 10 years ago probably wouldn't have Barcelona or Chelsea in it :)

how do they calculate this?
@Wolfie
That's exactly what I was wondering. How do they know that this data is 100% accurate? If you calculate just the fans within fan clubs, it's not enough. Many people, like myself, are not part of a fan club.
Welcome to Social Network era :)
@Dephased, get a grip man yeesh.
@Dephased
These are the people that support the club worldwide. You don't need to be living in the actual city to be a real fan. These fans are real, and without them the club is nothing. Do you have a single idea how much $$$ clubs generate from their fans worldwide?
I feel like this is a crap statistics.
If we're including bandwagons in china and india, why dont we place City there as well with 40mils. Rofl half of them cant even name 3 players in any of the teams.
@tuanis this list ten years later probably wont have man utd in it :)
Not surprised. Manchester United is the best club in the world.
I was never asked by anyone if I was an arsenal fan so you can change arsenal's number to 115m and 1
More Arsenal fans than Liverpool? Strange...
350m Thanks to Asia and Sir. Alex. I remember back in 90's it was easy to start supporting Manchester United especially by young football fans, United were too strong and had many great players because let's face it most people support glory. but not everyone is like that, as for me Chelsea in 1996 were not at the same level as United, but we were playing great football and we had a creative and talented players that is good to watch, that was enough for me.
respect mate, the reason i started supporting United was because of Rooney, thats only player i knew back then beside Ronaldinho and Ronaldo (which i hated because he got Rooney sent off), later on i started to learn more about football and i always loved watching United play especailly Rooney and then next thing u know i knew about the EPL, CL, La liga and all these different leagues. i was amazed of how many leagues there were.
Edit:This was for Alex's comment

@Expert
I think it might be because London is more populated than Merseyside? :/
PS. I find it hard to believe that Juve has less fans than Inter. Juventus is the most popular club in Italy. Despite Inter's recent treble, I still think that there are more Juve fans than Inter fans.

How exaclty is this calculated? I bet none of us here of FR were counted xD
Agree with above about Juventus. There were two most popular teams in Italy always : AC Milan and Juventus .
I certainly knew about Juventus because of Zidane , Edgar Davits , Pavel Nedved , Del Piero , Threzueguet , and etc. Those players alone gave huge fan base to Juventus .
Based on amount of fans.
