Those of you who are football fanatics who aren’t watch the women’s euros. Why?

My wife wants to support the sport for women, therefore we have been watching it. Even though I don't really care about football, I should still support it. But none of my regular football-watching pals have seen it. There are no pubs in the area that show it. This is obviously different from the Euros from last year, when I was forced to watch them. I have not heard anyone remark that we are in the semifinals.

If you enjoy football but don't care. Why?

No disrespect to people here, but I have found a lack of support for the women's game and players in general throughout threads we have had in the past, so I am not sure you will get many responses to this topic. Each person has their own view and opinions, and I am not here to force anything on anyone. "You do you!"

That said, I did watch a handful of the women's Euros, including the later stages, and thought it was fantastic. Huge props to England for their first-ever major trophy on the women's side, they had a great tournament.

I thought Germany had the better run of play in the second half, but we all know how footy can play out and England did their part to be champions.

The game has improved a lot in Europe and the USA needs to watch out. They are not far ahead of the other players and teams anymore, so they better be ready for a heavy challenge in next year's World Cup. League play in England, France, Germany, and Spain has improved, and the Champions League version was fun to watch. Finish with the Euros and it has been a great year for women's football.

I hope to see continued support and improvement as it only offers more entertainment for the beautiful game.

Well, for one, I was happy to hear the high attendance in women competition this year.

But yeah, I will concede I haven't watched any women football this year. Its not because I got anything against women football, I mean there plenty of league out there I haven't watch either this year and its ain't because I hate them either. It just a fact that my time to watch football games is limited so I'm attracted to what I know will be quality games. The fact are thats its also way easier to catch high profile games between club juggernauts than women NT doesn't help either. Also tbf, few peoples really follow U21 or U18 competition either, even though some could say they could have more impact on man football than women tournament? I think its a lot more aquestion of stakes than it is a question of gender or anything like that.

Women football is getting better and better with the years though and I expect people to care more for it in the future, especially if USA stop making the world cup look like a one horse race.

As a North American for me, it's fatigue, honestly.

When I was a young American in New York, seeing Mia Hamm play for the Women's United Soccer Association was exciting! But then it died.

When I was a teenager, watching Marta play for the Women's Professional Soccer League was exciting! But then it died.

The current NWSL is looking like it's doing okay. But I never got into it because I wasn't sure it would last. I'm happy that in Europe there has been action on the part of the current men's league to create affiliated women's league's, but as of right now it's just not profitable for the most part. We've been stringing along the WNBA (which is a similar affiliation) and it's lost money hand over fist since its inception.

Short version, unless there's a national pride component (World Cup, Olympics, Euros, etc) people just don't care. Happily, this trend seems to be changing a bit (e.g. UCL final), but it's the exception more than the rule.
