The wonder of Manchester City FC

Arsenal, England 37 1662

Today they totally destroyed spurs 6-0 could have been 8-0, their attack is immense at home, 35 goals in 9 home matches, Destroyed spurs 6-0, destroyed Norwich 7-0, Destroyed man united 4-1, destroyed Newcastle 4-0, destroyed CSKA Moscow 5-2, but the bizarre question is why cant they replicate this form outside home?? They lost 2-1 to chelsea, 1-0 to sunderland, 3-2 to aston villa, 3-2 to cardiff. Everybody is wondering why manchester city are so poor away.
You cant win the title just winning all your home games and losing most of your away games. Though Manchester city are scary at home. Arsenal play city in a few weeks time at the Etihad and it has come no better time. To be honest im kinda sweating over that match cus i dont want us to be battered! What are your thoughts?

Well, a lot of their losses came from dumb defensive errors that never should've happened. For example, the Torres goal at Stamford Bridge. It was a terrible piece of miscommunication between Hart and Nastasic. That should've never happened, and the match should've ended 1-1.

So not all their losses and draws are Pellegrini's fault. He usually gets the tactics right. It's just that his defense lets him down all the time. I still think that City can win the EPL. They just need to get their form away from home up to scratch.

Anybody else think Demichelles shouldn't be starting? from what i've seen he makes way too many errors and slacks at vital moments. The times Spurs got closest to scoring was because of him.

The other options are Lescott/Garcia both of whom are as error prone. Kompany should be back by next week.

City home is a monster. City away is my most dreaded fixture this season and a draw would be a great result. there's no way you guys trash us like spurs though, we're another caliber than this comedy of a 100m team. HAHAHAHA COYS !!!

ManCity is most tough team at home in EPL right now

@Dynastian: Aren't almost all goals scored by defensive errors though?

@vendetta Not if you simply outplay the other team. Which is the case with most goals at this level.

Arsenal did beat us 3-1 in the preseason. If there's any team right now I'd think will beat us at home, it'd be Arsenal (and Chelsea would draw). Wenger is one crafty SOB.

@KingHenry: SMH. I expected better from you...

@raimondo: +1 I tottally agree. I was even surprised that they bought him to begin with. I don't think he's that good of a defender and is in the twilight of his career. Strange move for me. I like Lescott better and I am still confused as to why he hasn't played more. I think he's been hard done by. When him and Kompany were playing together before Mancini dumped him they were unstoppable. I'd say he should be their 3rd choice currently.

There's an interesting theory that cites Etihad Stadium's pitch size as the reason why City have been so dominant at home recently. Since their pitch is longer by a few inches at home compared to other (I believe all) away stadiums, they seem to play with more fluidity in the wide areas. I am not sure I buy it, but it is an interesting theory nonetheless.

@lodatz I haven't forgoten, I just enjoy spurs being awful even more than usual after everyone (including on this forum) said they were title contenders after their AMAZING/BRILLIANT/GENIUS transfer window, calling Levy the messiah and blah blah blah blah. No hard feelings. I can understand how every neutral takes the side of Spurs though, with them being the underdogs of the north london rivalry.

@ TheGame, wouldnt that help the other team too since both teams have a longer and wider space to play then? Excluding Man city's home support behind them.

@ArsenalGunners, not if they don't have the tools (players) to utilize that advantage. Again, like I said, I don't buy it either. It's just somewhat odd how a team could do so well at home and so poor away.
