The squad Real Madrid could have had...

So I'll start listing players from the time Ronaldinho left Barcelona (2008).

These are all the players we had let go from then, and had enjoyed success elsewhere. Just imagine our squad if the RM management weren't so stupid and kept these players.

Antonio Cassano
Robinho
Roberto Soldado
Julio Baptista
Fabio Cannavaro
Javi Garcia
Gabriel Heinze
Michel Salgado
Klass-Jan Huntelaar
Alvaro Negredo
Wesley Sneijder
Arjen Robben
Ruud van Nistelrooy
Rafael van der Vaart
Raul
Guti
Ezequiel Garay
Nuri Sahin

And this is why I hate RM management. They're SO BAD with treating and respecting players properly.

I can't believe you forgot to include Makalele...

Also, the same could be done for Internazionale.

^yeah, was just about to ask where Makalele was.. Biggest mistake real ever made letting him go.

Didn't they replace him his Gravesen or something. ahaha..

@Ven

If you read what I wrote, I said I included players from 2008 and onwards. Makelele was released much earlier.

This is a squad we could STILL have. Most of these players are still active. Only a handful retired.

@Wolfie

I know. It was due to Mourinho's brilliance and Perez's stupidity.

too much attacking talent to choose a couple as starters O.o Madrid's youth rivals barca's just they haven't used that talent.

I don't really agree with you for most of it. I think the squad you have right now is for the most part a level higher than the players on this list.
Maybe I'm just talking out of my butt, but except for Sneijder, Robben and maybe Sahin, it wasn't that bad to let them go.

@KingHenry

Soldado, Sneijder, Van Der Vaart, Garay, and Robben we could've still used today. :(

@Kinghenry you are right, all those players were replaced by better players. Perez is the best president in RM history imo, he made the club bigger, richer and was just unlucky to be in Messi's Era, also RM had a bad luck those last years for Cl they weren't that far for getting that trophy.

That's a lot of attacks there... and only Sneijder, Robben, Soldado would have probably stayed...

yep you cannot have 45 players in the squad, all RM fans wants big players every year. if those players stayed then tell me which one do you want to see out instead of.

@Tiki

I'd like to see Kaka out and Sneijder in.
Pepe out and Garay in.
di Maria out and Robben in.
If we had kept our legend Raul, there would have been no need to loan in Adebayor and pay him millions for doing nothing.
If we still had Soldado as well, we wouldn't have to buy Benzema.
If we had RVDV we wouldn't have had to buy Ozil or Modric.

But yes, you are right when you say that Perez is more successful and important that self-inflicting to Madrid. But I still would've liked to seen some of these players stay longer than they had.

^You're list is 100% true except for the last one. I think Ozil is a much better option than RVDV.

@Ven

Yea, but then Modric wouldn't have been needed. I'm starting to see now how good Modric really is, but VDV wouldn't have been so bad either. Anyways, I'm happy that we have both Modric and Ozil.

garay was not that good at madrid.
robben was always injured, when we look at his wages it was a bad investment.
Raul was done, schalke is not Madrid he couldnt be at 100 pr cent anymore.
di maria was not perez choice but mou\'s one,i remember Perez perez wanted silva.
and come on Benzema is much better than Soldado, he\'s struggling at Madrid cause he is not well used.
Give Benz to Arsenal or juve you will clearly see the difference.
and van der vaart, well the only big club he played in was RM, doesn\' t mean he\'s not good but he was not world class.

I only agree for Sneijder, terrible mistake to let him go to Inter, without getting enough money.

lol V don\'t agree with you for the first time of his life, not at 100 pr cent :)

@Tiki

Robben may have been injured frequently, but the season we let him go, he led Bayern to the CL final.
Garay needed more playing time. He was almost never used in Madrid.
di Maria may have been Mou's choice, but Mou could've certainly used Robben much more effectively.
Raul may have been done, but a Raul at 34 is certainly better than an Adebayor who can only score 4 goals in a season.
Benzema is a completely different player from Soldado. Remember that time when Higuain was out injured for months and Benzema had awful form? Soldado would've been the answer.
VDV has also played for Spurs and Ajax, where he won the FIFA Golden Boy award with the latter. He was also nominated for the 2008 Ballon d'Or when he was with Madrid. We could've used VDV much better than Kaka, as Kaka was already injured frequently when he came to us and on the decline. VDV was in his prime.

It's my opinion you can have yours. For me Perez did a good work as always, i hope he will quit Madrid just to show you that you are wrong.

@Tiki

Just to show that I am wrong? Where? All I said was that Perez stupidly sold and bought a lot of players without the manager's permission. Of course I think that Perez is a great president. He's the one who's earning us nonstop money and keep RM a great club.
