The Risk and Reward Style of Leeds United

Leeds United have been knocking on the door of the Premier League for many years, and finally in
the summer of 2020, they found their way back. Known for their style of play in the Championship,
many were excited about the prospect of seeing them back in the topflight and trying their luck
against some of the biggest clubs and budgets in the world.

Leeds play a very risk and reward style, and have continued to do so in the Premier League.
Sometimes this goes well, highlighted by their recent excellent 3-0 home win to Southampton,
sometimes not so much, shown when they conceded four in a defeat at Arsenal.

There is no doubt the Yorkshire club are good to watch, and rarely are their games boring,
something that has helped them become popular with football punters. Whether you are with or
against Leeds United when using football betting offers to place bets, you certainly known you are in
for a wild ride.

Can Leeds Sustain Their Current Style?

Questions have been asked about whether Leeds can continue to play this style of football and have
enough success, because there is a chance that teams will find them out and work out how to
counter. However, the same could be said about a lot of teams in the Premier League, who all have
their own style.

Go through the recent results that Leeds have had and you will see a wild range of scores, there is
seemingly no pattern to these. Wins can come from anywhere, we’ve already mentioned
Southampton and five games earlier than that, they were winning away at Leicester, a team battling
to finish in the top four.

However, there has also been disappointment, and losses at a time when Leeds were expected to
win. This is all part and parcel of the Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa way, something Leeds fans
have had to learn to deal with, and now the rest of us have to do the same.

It is probably a fair assumption to make that Leeds won’t change their style, unless they need to.
This will be a test, perhaps a bigger test than what it would be for any other club in the division,
because this style that Leeds have, has become so important and unique.

Many believe this club can not only survive in the Premier League but thrive and remain in the top
flight for many years. Sitting in mid table at the moment, it is certainly job done so far, and the
chances of relegation this season are incredibly slim.

This allows the club to continue building, finding new players to fit this system and working out ways
of further improving what they have at the club. One day, we may just see Leeds return to European
football, taking them back to the glory days, and should that happen, they will certainly have
achieved that by travelling a path that has given us a huge amount of excitement along the way.
