Sometime during the season I remember speaking to some Arsenal fans about how far along Kieran Gibbs has progressed in the past year. WAIT. Hear me out, ok?

I also remember telling someone (I think it was Lodatz) that I think if Gibbs can stop getting injured that he'd be in contention for that England LB position.
Of course, atm L Baines is the better option to deputize/replace Cole BUT he's already 28 years old. He may only be at his peak for the next 4 years or so. Gibbs is still 23.

Anyway, I really wish you guys would watch this video of his 2012/13 season. It shows how good Gibbs has gotten at defending. He is extremely fast as well. I think he needs to work on his crossing and his offensive skills more but I feel he is one of the best young english defenders out there. Just watch and let me know what you honestly think?

I like how the new English gen in Arsenal are robust and courageous.
Gibbs is a good all round player, can't think of a real weakness other than his aerial weakness, but then aerial ability is not required from a LB

He seems to me to be pretty good. But I feel as if as someone only a year older than him, Alba and Marcelo are much better than him. Although we all know that Alba and Marcelo are ridiculously attacking minded, and Gibbs is probably better than both at defending. Nice vid btw. :)

And yeah, from the looks of it, he might be England LB in a few years time. Have hope Footaholic. :D

Great vid. I have to say I like what I saw from him last season. I say sure, he can contend for the Three Lions' LB position. Is Cole expected to be bumped down soon?

Like you said Foota, Kieran has loads of time considering how well he has been doing, and how old Baines is getting.

Gibbs is great.

Gibbs is definitely talented and has potential but calling him the next Ashley Cole is a large expectation considering Cole is one of the best left backs of his generation.

I haven't heard about this guy since he was wrongly sent off at the bridge...

I though Footaholic is back when I saw this topic, probably too much expectations :(.
@Eden Yeah, he kinda fell behind Monreal. Gibbs was great offensively, but he was way too often in front making too much space in our defence. I hope he will get some time on the pitch tho.

Nope. Cole had talent but Gibbs does not. He is good though.

I can't remember the last time gibbs had a bad performance, he was always performing alright he should get more playing time imo

nah..id put nacho ahead of gibbs.. but wouldnt mind moulding gibbs into a left winger though..
