I can guarantee that the Nani to Arsenal story is completely made-up and Arsenal were never interested.

I also believe the Higuain thing will go through. I'd be happy with that :)

The interesting story is with David Villa. Apparently, he is extremely unhappy with Barcelona and both parties want to go their separate ways. My understanding is that he was very very close to joining Arsenal last January BUT Barca vetoed the move and I'm not sure Arsenal are still in for him. If they are, there is a small chance but I think with Higuain a more certain arrival, it won't happen.
That leave Atletico Madrid & Spurs as the only other options. Spurs have a lot of things in their favour 1- they are offering him the most wages out of those 3 clubs. 2- AVB likes him and he is an attractive manager to play for 3- Villa said earlier that he'd like to live in London. The only thing NOT in their favour is:
1- As it stands, I believe Atleti is offering a slightly higher transfer fee & 2- Spurs aren't in CL whereas Atleti are.

Has anyone watched this Illarramendi character? I'd appreciate any input. I've been hearing a lot of rumours about him.

I feel for Podolski, first Gervinho and now Higuain!

@Footaholic, Illarramendi is a deep-lying mid-fielder and I've seen nothing but good things from him during the U21 Euro. If he does come to Arsenal he would compliment Wilshere perfectly, perhaps allow Wilshere or Arteta to take a rest here and there.

I have no idea about lllarramemdi but from the videos i saw, he is a promising player.

Prolly one of those who watch La Liga would know more about him. He plays for Real Sociedad.

What do you think about Higuain? I don't think it's a good move for Arsenal. Higuain & Torres play the same way to me. I'm not saying they are bad, but they do miss a lot of chances.

@La Liga fans what do you think about Geoffrey Kondogbia? He plays for Sevilla.

Nothing "special" but he look's pretty solid in his position. Also you're in for a bit of skill towards the end.

Haven't seen much of Pogba, but I can tell you that Kondogbia is a tank with a dribble or two in him.

"Arsenal are tracking West Brom's 14-year-old" HERE WE GO AGAIN

@quikzyyy: You do know we released 16 academy players, right? That's a lot and we need to replenish. Also, you must understand that the academy has its own scouts & budget (separate from that of the 1st team). Therefore, there is no reason for you to get upset/whine when we are linked with a youth player.

I understand you want a big signing, but I get annoyed when people bitch about us signing promising youth. It doesn't affect our main transfer budget and you should be proud of our developmental policy.

oh come on Footaholic. Now when we released 10 young players we will just see signings of new kids in Arsenal youth squads? I personally don't think that 14 year old kid will play in reserves squad in a while anyway. I'm not ***** anything about our academy just answering on the the thing that all what i see from arsenal is thinking 10 years forward..

I'm still not convinced this link with Spurs and Villa is real. Basically, turns out that his wage packet at Barcelona is even higher than anyone suspected, and this just drives his asking price far beyond the potential benefit of a 31-year old with high injury risk.

I can see Atletico choosing to take that risk, given Villa has proven himself against La Liga, but I suspect the Spurs interest waned a while back, along with Arsenal's, once it became clear how much money it would cost.

Very excited about the prospect of Bernard and Paulinho... now just have to hope that THEIR links are not simply made up by the media, too... >.>

@alex for your information Higuain does NOT miss a lot of chances. In fact he has the best conversion rate of any forward in the major leagues in Europe (ahead of ronaldo and messi), I'd have to look for the article but Higuain has been the major subject of discussion these last few days on the arsenal subreddit. Higuain is extremely talented and everyone knows how awful Real Madrid can be at managing all the talents they buy (see Sahin, Kaka, Higuain, Modric, etc). And people seem to forget that he is still only 25 years old.

@quikzyyy how can you complain (I think complaining about Arsenal is the only thing you ever do) when we may be close to signing Higuain and break our record transfer fee ? And just for your information, every club needs its young prospects. How do you think we got Wilshere ? and Fabregas ? btw the fact that I can't seem to think of other players coming from our youth system is kinda sad and shows that we have to sign more of these teenagers.
