Re: Bale's price tag.

Yes, that's way too much. Yes, that's also the point. Daniel Levy is sending out the message: Not For Sale.

Yes, I'm happy about this. :D

@todt I believe that every club has 40 players so it's not necessarily your key players. maybe they exaggerated it a bit tho :)

Er.. but won't his release clause be much lower than 116 million? When did he sign his last deal? So if a club wants, they can simply activate the release clause? Assuming he wants to leave... and if he doesn't  then it doesn't matter what price you attach, because it won't make a difference.

There are no release clauses by default in English football. There are cases where a contract is signed with them (such as Demba Ba's contract with Newcastle), but they are the rare exception.

So, there's no release clause for Bale. There's only what Tottenham are prepared to part with him for. ;)

Real shouldn't feel bad. Here's what Spurs told Man City last year:

<http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2090127/Gareth-Bale-Tottenham-place-150m-price-tag.html>

150 million! They're offering Madrid a bargain by comparison... ;)

@Alex: Thanks man :)
