The (brief) Return of the Prodigal Son

Hey ya'll! For those that have asked... it seems I live after all :0
I've been crazy busy and havent even looked at anything footy related for 3 weeks. Luckily, that's proven a blessing in disguise as I'm sure I would've been tempted to off myself had I had all that time to dwell on our transfer failings and maddening manager. So I've traded one hell for another. Anyway, I have tomorrow off so I thought I'd drop by to catch up.

Here's my current thoughts:

I have reached the point of no return. The way I see it, Arsenal had a golden opportunity to FInaLLY be proactive and take the world by storm this summer. Instead, we baffle even the most hardened of fans.

FACT: ARSENAL FC HAVE MORE LIQUID CAPITA (translation = cold hard cash ready to be used) THAN ANY OTHER CLUB IN THE WORLD. It totals approximately £180m. Just think about that for a second.

So, what do we do with all our goodies...

The answer to that puzzle is right above this arrow ^

I don't consider myself a volatile fan and I've said multiple times that on a whole, I feel Arsenal fans have been pretty patient and understanding. Bear that in mind when I say the following statement:

"I think it is officially time for Wenger to hand up his whistle"

It hurts me to say that. It really does as the man is brilliant if you understand anything about football, but like the mad artist, his time must end sooner than it should. I have never seen a man try so hard to undermine his own legacy as he has.

There is simply no excuse he can have or hide behind anymore. This summer has been the epitome of failure. And it will forever more remain so... even if we signed Messi on deadline day. It's too late now. The damage has been done. Too long we have suffered from gross negligence with no explanation or even acknowledgement of our rights as fans.

The fact that I am almost certain Chelsea will win the league next year and that we will be nowhere where we should be is reason enough to dilute any excitement I have over the new seasonand indeed feels me leaving a sense of apathy towards football. However, I think "the rest" of the pack will be excitig to watch though. Spurs have done exceptionally well so far in the market and most teams (even less fashionable ones) have strengthened immensely. But as for my beloved... I am convinced that the only way up from here is for Monsieur Scroog McWenger to give another man a chance.

Still, every phoenix is bound to rise from its ashes one day. Till then I shall support with full knowledge that my club is the cause of its own failures and it is mostly due to phenomena beyond the rational scope of mere mortals.

As for the rest of you guys, I hope you all enjoy your teams. I will, even if it will be begrudgingly.

So dramatic in your tone.. :O The season havnt even started yet ffs! you might still beat spurs in the table, you have still got a better team on a few positions

If beating Spurs is the highlight of our season, then it is over before it begins. Perhaps I am being dramatic in tone but I think it is appropriate not because I have some divine right to expect my team to be the best but because m club refuse to try. If I were an Everton supporter than I'd be happier because I'd be content with the knowledge that my club is actually using all of its resources for ... you know, football. I understand if you don't get my meaning. I'm a bit emotional as I;m typing so I may not have articulated it well enough.

PS - I believe (here it comes) and I think the majority of honest observers would agree, that Spurs has a better team than us now. I find it hard to dispute that.

I would support my team if they were in the 3rd division but thats just me, I am never going to become a plastic supporter, From reading what you have said you would stop following your team if they became a team that would fight to avoid relegation every year...

@Dep I agree. He was one of our best players in the 07/08 season and since Arteta is injured I wouldn't mind if we signed Flamini.

@Knibis: I am not sure how you interpreted that from what I wrote. I made sure to clearl state that my anger has nothing to do with the position we finish in, but mostly to do with the fact that our club heirarchy won't do its best to make us competitive. Again, if I supported... let's say Southampton or something, and they finished 16th... so be it. hat's because I'll be happy to support a team that takes itself seriously and respects its fans.
In any case, I'm not sure how to make myself any clearer. Think what you like.

@GunnerAFC & @Dephased = PERFECT example of what they've done to us. Flamini?... a good buy? My GOD. It's worse than I thought. It's like a man dying of thirst who's so desperate, he'd drink seawater.

Indeed. I'd take anyone now. Just sign someone already! Our squad has hardly any depth.
