and zlatan did almost nothng exept euro and getting a red card
ANY list that doesn't include Lars Bender in the top 50 position this year is by default, worthless.
@Rai
Messi may have outdone Ronaldo in terms of goals and assists, but he could not outshine Ronaldo where it mattered. Ronaldo did fairly well in La Liga, which is where Messi shone and scored most of his goals. Ronaldo completely outshone Messi in the CL, especially the latter stages, and beat Messi in both the Super Cup AND Copa del Rey. Don't let his name get to you Rai. Just because his name is Lionel Messi doesn't mean he'll ALWAYS perform as the "best".
Dyn: in all honestly, Messi and Ronaldo had a pretty even season with the exception of Messi achieving silverware.
@Rai
Hmm... I guess. Ronaldo shone in the CL and Copa del Rey, and Messi shone in La Liga. And Messi won La Liga, while Ronaldo lost both the Copa del Rey and the CL.
@Dynastian98
You forgot something!Messi was injured many times this season.
He played a lot of games without being ready(PSG and Bayern for example).
And where Real Madrid needed most CR was against BVB.In that game CR was probably the worst Madrid player.
The same goes for messi against bayern.
I remember Portugal VS Spain in the 2010 world cup :) Ronaldo barely even touched the ball
@DonAndres
But at the same time, Ronaldo did great in the Copa semis against Barcelona, and scored that important goal against Atletico in the final. Don't forget that.
@Rama
Yes, and what about Portugal vs. Spain in EURO 2012? Don't try to make excuses. Ronaldo in 2012 is MUCH better than Ronaldo in 2010.
Excuses? Naah. But I vaguely remember Spains tactic is to wear our oppenents like Portugal. I also seem to remember they beat them and won the competition. Hmmmm.....
@Rama
Yeah, hmmmm...
OH YEAH. They beat them on penalties! Such a narrow margin!
Considering how far behind Portugal is from Spain in terms of national quality, the fact that Ronaldo led his country to a goal-less draw and penalties against the best national team of all-time is astounding. Rama, if you don't know where to give credit when it is deserved, get lost. You're behaving more and more like a "fanboy" than an actual fan everyday.
To be fair, Dynastian, Ronaldo's EURO last year wasn't that much to brag about; Pepe, Alves, Coentrão, Moutinho and Nani were just as important. Therefore, it gets a bit over the top to say he led his country to the semi-final and penalties against Spain, as the whole team was defending and attacking brilliantly.
The case could however, be that you mean it differently -- that Ronaldo was part of leading Portugal as far as we came, and that I agree with indeed. We all remember his fantastic game against the Netherlands. Also, I don't see why some of you complain about Ronaldo being in front of Messi, as he's truly deserved it.
Well said but Ronaldo is not in front of Messi because bleacherreport said so.
As for portugal the most important goal if i remember well was scored from Varela.
True, Don, though that was Varela's only contribution for Portugal in that EURO. You could also say Ronaldo's goal against Czech Republic was the most important.
@DonAndres
Don't be stuck up Don. We are not saying Ronaldo is actually better than Messi. We are just saying he's shone for his team more this season, and that he's performed excellently. You ALWAYS see Messi ahead of Ronaldo, so why do you have to complain so much when Ronaldo may be in front of Messi for once? It's not like he's gonna be there for long. As you said, Messi got injured. If he didn't, I'm sure he would've done better. So can't you suck it up for once and deal with it? As a RM fan, I've dealt with being second-best to Barcelona for a decade. Why can't you?
@Dynastian : Who won? Spain. Portugal was shit in the 2nd half
Dynastian98
I have nothing against CR and RM.
Just pointing out that Neither Ronaldo nor Messi was that awesome this season.
Maybe the scored more goals than other years/seasons but they were not so amazing.Especially Messi.
And for this Year both were at the same level despite messi's injury.Both of them were the Key players and when they didnt play their teams couldnt perform(Osasuna-Madrid 0-0 )
I just cant hear that Ronaldo was that amazing this year and especially much better than Leo.
Not from you of course,from random fanboys..
@Ramaboy
I honestly am sick of your idiotic comments. I know you're 12 years old and young and whatever, but grow up. Be more respectful to your opposition, like Don.
@Don
My bad, I didn't mean to put it that way. What I meant is that for once Messi was not "better" than Ronaldo. They were more or less equal. They both did amazing in one way or another, and at the same time they disappeared in the big games. So I think that now after we both agree on this point, our argument is finished. O:)

Defensive midfielder Maxime Gonalons was an impressive and consistent performer in Ligue 1, though his side, Lyon, have fallen from their title-winning days of the early 2000s and came a distant third this year, 16 points behind PSG.Gonalons is the defensive shield for his back line and made huge numbers of tackles and interceptions, ranking in the top 10 of Ligue 1 for both. Also a talented distributor of the ball, he set the pace for his team's play, and only two players in the league made more passes per game than Gonalons.
49. Leighton Baines (Everton)
It's not often that a full-back might be seen as one of the most creative players in a league, but with five assists and more than three key passes each game on average, that's exactly what Leighton Baines has been for Everton. Only David Silva registered more key passes per game than the left-back.Baines also added five goals of his own and was impressive defensively, part of a back-line which conceded the fourth-fewest in the entire Premier League.
Staying with exciting attacking players in Serie A, Stephan El Shaarawy played in all but one of AC Milan's league fixtures this term, coming of age with a series of impressive and important performances.He scored 16 goals from his left-sided position in the Milan attack, and his ability to link up with midfield and fellow attackers has become a big part of his game to go with his individual skills. Expect much more to come from the Italian international, but this year he has already proven himself a top talent.
The Tottenham No. 1 has changed since the start of the season; Hugo Lloris taking over from Brad Friedel caused more than a few raised eyebrows since the veteran American had done nothing wrong, but Lloris has shown he is one of the best in the world with his displays this season.Lloris has everything a modern goalkeeper requires: agility, good reading of the game, excellent starting positions, good distribution and an ability to dominate his penalty area aerially. For £10 million or so, he's been an excellent signing for the present and the future.
Over to Portugal now and to the top midfielder for league champions Porto, and Brazilian, Fernando.The 25-year-old pulls no punches in protecting his back line, but is a classy and elegant passer of the ball too. He featured in 24 of Porto's league matches and started the all-important victory over Benfica near the last day of the season.
In a season of mediocrity for Inter Milan, goalkeeper Samir Handanovic was one of the few impressive performers. His penalty-saving heroics have quickly earned him fan favourite status at Inter just one season after signing, and though Inter only finished ninth in Serie A this season, Handanovic staying at the club will give them reason to hope to rebuild.
