La Liga has 21 games and 39 total points right?
Meanwhile, teams from the the overlooked Portuguese league:
Wins: 6. Draws: 1. Losses: 1. Total: +5. Points per team: 2.5. True PPG: 2.38.
... in other words, they destroy everyone else on this list.
Now hold your horses.., just wait a minute.. Ca-a-a-n it be.. that the Portuguese league currently is the best league in the world?
But in all fairness, they have had somewhat easy groups..
Of course it's not the best league in the world. But the Portuguese league as a whole get very little credit for how well they're doing. People keep talking about the Italian and French, but the quality of the top 4-5 teams in Portugal is higher right now.
I don't agree that they have easy groups, topping your group comfortably after 4 games in front of teams like Chelsea, Atletico and Galatasaray is not something I see teams like Lyon and Roma doing.
I know mate, but that's how la Liga fan boys seem to see it.
Anyways, I'd say Besiktas and Porto are both better than Galatasaray.. And Chelsea are in very bad form so not surprisingly that Porto beat us.. That leaves us with Athletico.. because the other teams; Dynamo Kiev, maccabi Tel Aviv and Astana aren't that good in comparison..
But sure, they should be acknowledged, because they've certainly played well.
Lol PL level is lower than la Liga's at the moment, just get over it mate. Arent you a PL fan boy ?

Laughing out loud at this^
Bump.
Sevilla and Valencia are just of form this year, very weak defensively while Vigo and Villareal look better. Sevilla needs to get rid of Rami, not contending Material and Nzonzi. They clearly miss a striker ( Bacca ) and their best player last year Vidal. Still happy though Barça signed him.
I think this thread should be a sticky too.
i just realize that Arsenal and Manchester United MUST win their last group stage in order to qualify while Chelsea just needed a DRAW.. lol.. how i wish to see all English team qualify into the knock out stage..
there is a 50percent chance that chelsea won't qualify, porto will give everything they have and chelsea is out of form with lack of confidence so there is a big chance for porto to qualify.
United doesn't have to win, they just have to match PSV's result. If PSV beats CSKA, then United would have to win to advance.
@SunFlash: true, but I dont think we should depend on anything, we have to keep our faith in our hand.. FTW!!!
bump
Now real competition will start :)
Yepp, probably good that Valencia and Sevilla didn't go through, though. Both weren't even close to making it. Gent was a too tough of a task, I guess. Very surprised that United didn't go through as well. They had the cards in their hands but completely threw them away..
Pot 1 :
Pot 2 :
I guess Mourinho would want to Avoid PSG this season :), considering last year before the two legs described picking PSG as a dream draw, things may have changed in his eyes probably this season.
Looking further for the draw.
Updated for matchday 6. I will hopefully keep updating during the knockout stages as well. :)
Update for Lilywhite- Portugese League: 6 wins 2 draws 4 loses total points +2. PPT 1. In other words, they were average in the end. Interesting fact though, Porto and Benfica shared very similar success having the same amount of wins, draws, loses and goals conceded (8) only having different goals scored by 1. Interesting how fast things can change.
Since it has come under suspicion that Amerr has left the forum, I will continue his old thread here.
+1 for a win, 0 for a draw, -1 for a loss were Amerr's rules. I added True PPG, which is what the average number of points per game that each league has picked up in the CL so far. By the request of other members, team goal statistics were added too.
Group Stage Only
Knockout Phase Only
