I like them better with him than withouth personally because I feel they play generally cleaner with him. When Spurs are desperate, they can get a bit dirty, though even when he is there, they can play pretty roughly. But still, as a manager, I rather have him on my side than not having him. He offer something no other Spurs player have.
With him in it i feel they score goals and is the focal point of the attack
With him out i feel they are more desperate to win.
