Lolz, yes it was unexpected win by Spurs. I mean, by that much?

Never expected Mourinho to concede 5 again. Odd result, but it's better to lose a league match in January by 5 rather than a Champions League game later on in the year. This result gives him something to work on in preparation for the tougher months ahead.

Mourinho didn't concede five, a Hurricane, penalty, crap defending and a deflection were out of his control.

@Eden

The score read 'Chelsea 3 - 5 Tottenham'. Just admit it.

@Eden: Neither Cahill not Terry could hold Harry Kane. Chelsea was out muscled in that game. United was out muscled the week before too. This Tottenham team plays physical football, which is the style of Ponchettino. So, infact Mou was outplayed, and I did not expect that what so ever. Should be a tight race with City this year!

^Yeah our defence was total rubbish, but that is out of Mou's control. That's what I'm trying to say, Mou's tactics were great, just individuals let us down. Oscar, Willian and Salah were not creative, Cahill was terrible and Ivanovic and Terry were not like they usually are.

@Eden

That is the nature of football. It's hard to blame one individual. Mourinho did not get his tactics correct (Ivanovic's absence on the flank when he charged up was not covered properly, and Spurs took advantage of this every time), and individual performances were abysmal too (in the case of Cahill and Matic). The team as a whole is to blame. It's unfair to single out a few players, and equally unfair to single out Mourinho. Mourinho's tactics were far from 'great' this game. If his tactics were spot on as usual, the scoreline would've been much better. In fact, I presume the scoreline would've been something like 3-2 in favor of Chelsea, since Hazard basically created all three goals. No matter how poor the defense was today, Mourinho did not prepare for this match properly, and that's why you guys shipped 5 goals at the back.

On the other side of the spectrum, Spurs were excellent today. Individual performances were excellent (Eriksen being all over the Chelsea midfield, Kane and Chadli being badass), and the tactics from Pochettino were spot on (bombarding Ivanovic's poorly covered flank repeatedly). Praise must go to the team as a whole.

Despite winning, Spurs still have some problems to deal with. The '3' part on their scoreline is the most notable issue.

Mou is right on the second interview though. I'm sure it would be much harder for Spurs to play that fantastic football, if they would be down 0-2 after Hazard would had scored that potential penalty that was never given. But the human factor is part of football and I can only congratulate Spurs for a good game. They have played really good in the last few games and I'm sure they'll climb the table further.

Nice to see that all of you seem to care so much about Chelsea and immediately make posts after every of Chelsea's losses. New year, same shit. We lost, so what? Do you see Chelsea fans making threads every time Arsenal, Liverpool, ManU, Real or whatever team loses? It's so annoying.

Well.

Well.

Well.

Chelsea will recover, and I gather John Terry's speech after full-time in the locker room was inspirational. This season is still theirs for the taking, both in Europe and at home, and Mou will find a way to fix whatever it was that was broken in his plan for this game.

If we both make it, the League Cup final will be a much different game.

But, yes, Spurs were bloody brilliant. Kane is showing EXACTLY what the purpose of the new academy system was, and we have also Bentaleb and Mason to thank for their ascendance. If Poch can harness this (and I believe he can) squad's raw potential and turn it into a great footballing side, we might be something to be proud of.

Bring on the 2nd half of the season. Let's see who's got what in their tank. I'm not even worried about the Top 4 this year, because I'd rather see a season of solid rebuilding, but since WE just spanked Chelsea's first-choice XI, I'm feeling a little more optimistic about what this Tottenham side can do.

Pochettino has whipped this lot into shape, or at least most of them, and maybe we will get to see some of the same courage and teamwork that Espanyol showed when he led them.

Oh, btw, in case anyone didn't know: this is Kane's 7th league goal of the season, but his 17th in all competitions, including 7 goals (from 6 appearances) in the Europa League.
