Situation in the big leagues for CL... (La Liga, Bundesliga, PL, League 1 etc...)
knibis 12 years ago
Valencia, Sweden 181 2500

Bundesliga:

Friburg vs Shalke.. DONT MISS THIS MATCH 15.30 C.E.T saturday.. (these guys will not miss that game..)

If an inform Friburg wins they will go to the playoffs (since its the last matchday).. if shalke wins they will.. if a draw.. Frankfurt can take the 4th place if they win at home to Wolfsburg..

estemated:

Friburg: 32%
Shalke: 32%
Frankfurt: 36%

(since i think the match will end a draw).

Italy:

With a 4 point lead with 2 matches 2 go Fiorentina will not beat milan to 3rd spot... both have mostly easy games.. 2 draws for milan is not entirely impossible so Fiorentina might have a chance..

estemated:

AC Milan: 89%
Fiorentina: 11%

Spain:

4 matches to go for both fighting: Valencia and the 2 points ahead Sociedad..

Possible turnout?:

7P
Rayo 0-1 Valencia
Getafe 1-1 Valencia
Valencia 3-0 Granada
Sevilla 2-1 Valencia

4P
Sociedad 4-1 Granada
Sevilla 3-2 Sociedad
Sociedad 2-2 Real Madrid
Deportivo 1-0 Sociedad

Deportivo will be fighting like hell in the last game and sevilla is in good form..

Estimated:

Valencia: 58%
Sociedad: 42%

England:

Arsenal i think will win their 2 remaining games. Same goes for Spurs but as you all know Arsenal are a oint ahead, and that point is killer.. (Chelsea cant miss a CL spot).. Newcastle away i still think Arsenal will be able to win since they are in good form

Estimated:

Arsenal: 81%
Spurs: 19%

France:

4 teams are involved in the fight for 3rd placeand that makes for good entertainment:

  1. Lyon 63p 4.Lille 60p (one game more played than the others) 5. Nice 60p 6. Saintetienne 59p

And and its hard to call because many of the teams face each other but i think Lyon will go through even though they face PSG (at home)

estimated:

Lyon 33%
Nice: 30%
St.Etienne: 25%
Lille: 12%

So in the playoffs its divided by teams from leagues where they only have 1 CL spot and leagues which have 2 or more...

the ones with 2 or more are Romania, Greece, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Switzerland, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, England and Spain. They will have in total 5 places to the main tournament,

in the 2nd to last round 2nd placed teams from weaker leagues fight for 4 spots in the final play offs where they will meet up with the 3rd and 4th placed teams from the 6 biggest leagues,,,

(6 biggest league: Portugal. Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France)

these 10 teams will then fight for 5 spots to CL. In first hand 3rd and 4th placed teams from the 6 biggest leagues will face 2nd placed teams from the slightly weaker leagues. but then 2 teams from the 6 biggest leagues will still meet each other. Last year it was Italy vs Portugal.

Will it look like this maybe?:

Arsenal - AC Milan
Valencia - Nordsjälland
Frankfurt - PSV
Pacos Ferrira - PAOK
Lyon - Zenit

Barcelona 62 1138

Rayo 1-2Valencia
Getafe 0-0 Valencia
Valencia 2-1 Granada
Sevilla 2-2 Valencia

Sociedad 3-1 Granada
Sevilla 2-1 or 2-2 Sociedad
Sociedad 1-0 Real Madrid
Deportivo 3-1 Sociedad
.. I see it more possible to happen like this.
For me sociedad has an advantage but Valencia is too experienced with this situations.
Plus that Sociedad are full of stress.
55% Sociedad - 45% Valencia.
BTW.Nice thread!

@knibis,

Well, Pacos has been talked about as the biggest sensation in Portuguese football in a LONG time. Pacos is a club that usually spends its time in the second division in Portugal, and their all time highest finish in the Primeira Liga is 6th, which was in 2006-07.

I'm not really sure how they ended up where they are, but everyone are talking about them in Portugal right now, as this was never expected. Pacos Ferreira are ONE playoff away of getting Champions League football, and haha, I bet nobody on this site has ever even heard about them apart from Portuguese football fans.

Much of their enormous success this season is due to their coach. Making the team that has the lowest amount of spectators on its matches and one of the shakiest economies in the league to get a 3rd place is a remarkable achievement. I wonder what they can do in Europe next season if their coach and players stay, which I doubt.

why do you think sociedad will loose last match against Deportivo ?? they will be motivated....

sociedad will take more than 4pts, valencia needs 9pts at least and pray. imo :
sociedad 60% / 40% valencia
forla ligue 1 : nice must win agaisnt Lyon next week to keep hoping, lille must win against saint etienne in the last match.
3- LYon 63pts +21 Goal Av.
4- Lille 60pts +19
5- Nice 60pts +9
6- Sainr Etienne 59pts +26 (all played 36games)
still 2 games for each team, important games : Nice- Lyon next week. Lille-Saint etienne last game. Lyon still have a chance even if they loose against Nice, so imo. Lyon 65% lille 25% Nice 9% Saint Etienne 1% due to goal average for Nice, saint-étienne must win against Marseille and Lille and wait for a loss+draw or draw+draw of Lyon (mission impossible)

Sociedad will regret those 2pts lost in the last minute, both teams have 59pts now. Valencia has more chances to qualify now.
