Shameless Vertonghen

And this is why Jan Vertonghen should win the Oscar for "Best dive that led to a red card".

Thoughts?

@KingHenry, that is hardly a headbutt. If anything he clutching himself in anticipation for contact. I can't blame the referee here even though I share Dynastian's view that he should not have dealt the card because he didn't see the incident. Vertonghen is to blame here, and responsible or not, Zozluya's reaction was fitting. I know I would have blown a gasket if I were in his shoes.

Look at the point of view from 0:54'. The douchebag hits him and falls on the ground. A good way to pushing divers is to make them wear ballerina skirt over their pants and play a certain amount of game with it.

headbutting someone is never a fitting reaction in football....

You're twisting my words man. The way he reacted after that oscar-winning performance was absolutely fitting. Anyone can talk about how unprofessional it may have been, but I put myself in his shoes and I would have gone mad too. Like I said, that's hardly a head-butt. Vertonghen wouldn't have made contact if he hadn't moved towards Zozluya. Here's a proper football head-butt...

^ Zidane need to teach headbut lessons, Classy.
@Dynast
Bad dive indeed. Seems that Fifa wants controversy to stay in Football, that keeps people talking about sports, or maybe the refreiing organisations are against video replays, i only know that its not the last time we will see something like this.

Did the player move his head aggressively at Vertonghen... Yes
Is it a red card... Yes
Did Vertonghen make the most of it... Yes
How many players wouldn't fall to the ground... None

I hold nothing against Jan, he did what he had to do

@Shnadsy

"He did what he had to do".

Yes, he cheated because he knew that his team was not good enough to beat a lowly Dnipro (who I hadn't even heard of until Spurs drew them). Shows how much of a fair and honest player he is.

@Don

I was so disappointed when he did that! :(

He cleaned up his game so well, but the moment he goes up against Costa and Godin, he does that again! He had my respect for changing his behavior for so long, and now he's lost it again. :/

Costa brings the worst out of players, fact.

@Dynast "he did what he had to do"
I know you are a real and "Real" football lover, but I can't believe you defend him on this.

Defend who? Pepe? In which part of my sentence did I defend him? I am disappointed in him. Read first, then comment.
