So, I know its kind of old news right now, but I thought it was worth its own thread. So, guys, I need the help of some of you expert for this one. I don't know enough of his season with Sunderland to make an opinion out of that. From what I seen, he seem like the kind of guy I like. What you guys think? And don't forget to share your thought on his time at other club if you got some since I would like to know more about him as a manager. Thank you guys in advance. ;D

A brutal man-manager is exactly what England needs right now. Allardyce isn't the best manager, but if he can keep Sunderland from being relegated he can keep England from being knocked out in the group stages.

Besides, it can come in handy having a manager willing to kick players in the ass. I can't say how it will play out for them, but it's an upgrade on Hodgson for sure.

I dont see a bright future with Sam.

I dont think he is a brutal man-manager. He can help struggling teams because their expectation and their goal are different.

England's aim is dead high, the mentality has to be high... I dont see Sam can lead to that.

But most of the coaches who suit and who can turn a bunch of overrated egos into 1 champ unit are busy with clubs... :( that's sad for England.

@tuan

Seems fair. Do you view Allardyce as a long-term replacement then, or just someone to shore it up for someone else? Or is England just that hopeless and had no one better to hire?

England just that hopeless and had no one better to hire! This seems so. Everyone was clueless when the appointment was announced.

I dont think he is a long term choice... :(

But with this English squad and media, we can't know. He can be an 1 time lucky manager and got his contract prolonged, but then sacked badly. Or (this is most likely) become a complete joke.

Wish him luck though

@tuan_jinn To be sincere, I don't think he his the best manager for England on a strategic point of view. I however think his attitude will be superior than that of his predecesor. I also think we might see England play a very direct and attacking style of football which for me would be enjoyable. I don't think its the kind of guys who will win World Cup or Euro with England but I kinda hope we see some very entertaining game with him at helm. Good luck to him as well. ;)
