SAF's best XI vs. JM's best XI

Manchester United, England 43 257

in real life, there is a great friendship and mutual admiration between both of them... anyway, lets have a little silly prediction game here :

can JM's best XI defeat this team ? share your best JM lineups and formations and tell us who would win if hypothetically the two XIs get the chance to face each other

Fergie's 11 would win anyday

I would go for something like this. Not sure it would defeat SAF's XI though.

----------------- Cech

  • Zanetti - Lucio - Terry - Cole
    --------- Lampard - Xabi Alonso
    ------di Maria - Sneijder - Ronaldo
    ---------------- Drogba

this has a better defence, Fergie one has a better offense.

I did the best I could. I should have covered most of Mourinho's best players, and I'm pretty sure that Sir Alex's line-up will win.

Wait. Hold on...

I still can't get over how Ferdinand got voted over Vidic.

Can we brag about Guardiola's best XI as well?

I think Ancelotti's beats them all anyways...

Guardiola would prefer Busquets over Toure in the midfield.

@Fred

True, but in terms of talent Toure and Alonso are miles ahead of Busquets.

Seriously, Ancelotti... wow that guy has one hell of a team, by far the best?

He can even afford to put his second team and still be equal to all the other first teams..

Mourinho vs Ferguson record speaks for itsefl

Only to 2 wins to Ferguson against 6 wins for Jose and 7 draws ....

When Mourinhos Porto beat United in 2004 , Ferguson had most of the players from the line up you provided as best he ever had . That alone speaks volumes .

Mourinho's Chelsea used to come and boss around at Old Trafford, no other team did it same way . So, Ofcourse Jose's any 11 that he managed will beat Ferguson's best 11 . Sounds arrogant , then go back to my second sentence and read that record he has against Sir Alex . With all respect and admiration to Alex Ferguson .

@Marcus

There are two aspects to the game: the players and the tactics. In terms of talent, that United team was better than Porto, but Mourinho had the superior tactics (and luck) as well as an 'underdog' mentality. I believe that if Mourinho's best team was put together against Sir Alex's best team, Sir Alex would win if no tactics were used.

I am trying to understand the point of this discussion . Are we comparing them talent of player for player ? Or overall team talent vs team talent ? Because any team needs guide or tactics of a manager to function well . It is like an army without general , no matter how strong they are they will loose without tactics.

So if it is so then why mention about managers ? One maybe more fortunate to manage better players in his overall career . Lets just call this topic , one lucky manager got this players and other lucky manager had this players, whose players would win .

Well , i don't know , it is a team sport . Not player for player in position .

Edit: maybe rename into , who has sweeter looking line up . Not who would beat who or win over as Sir Alexis's team or Jose's team .
