Italian crisis club Parma are auctioning their trophies in a desperate attempt to raise money.
Unable to clear debts totalling more than €200m, the club was put up for sale for £14m by an Italian judge in April and, after failing to find a new owner, relegated to Serie D before being forced to reform as Parma Calcio 1913 by the Italian Football Federation.
Official administrators Angelo Anedda and Alberto Guiotto have put the following trophies up for sale: three Coppa Italias won in 1992, 1999 and 2002, the Cup Winners’ Cup from 1993, the 1994 European Super Cup, the Uefa Cups of 1995 and 1999 and the 1999 Italian Super Cup.
Parma’s administrators have said all bids should be submitted by 11 September, but Uefa regulations may prevent any sales as “replica trophies awarded to winners of the competition must remain within the relevant club’s control at all times and must not leave the club’s country without Uefa’s prior written consent”.
The Italians are likely to need an appeal to gain permission to sell the items.
