Modric vs. Iniesta

Well, Andres is one of the best midfielders ever. No doubt about that. But the last few seasons, Modric has been absolutely terrific. Modric has been voted the best midfielder in La Liga twice in the past three seasons. He's thrown in unbelievable performances in the past season, and his control and passing range is phenomenal. Iniesta has still been top quality, but not as dynamic or influential as he was before. Hence, Messi having to drop back a lot more in order to create.

Robben vs. Ribery

Robben is unstoppable; always has been. His left foot is ridiculous, and he's got a great knack for scoring stupidly good goals. Ribery has been destroyed by injuries throughout his career. I've watched both of them regularly from 2008-2014 (well, Robben from 2009 because that's when he joined Bayern), and Ribery definitely edges Robben. His ability to seamlessly split defenses and open up space is absolutely remarkable. He hardly ever goes for goals or shots unless he's got a better chance than anybody. He usually splits defenses with perfectly measured passes into open space for players to run into in order to cross the ball in for Gomez or Muller. He's also the only player I have seen that has the natural ability to be a crowd pleaser in every step he takes, other than Ronaldinho. Of course Iniesta and Messi and CR have been crowd pleasers in their prime, but none seem to make the fans as ecstatic as Ronaldinho and Ribery.

Putting those in comparison means you know nothing about football. Iniesta is on another level and you can not to compare him with Modric or any midfielder while Ribery is way better than Robben.

Robben and RIbery both have been very unlucky with injuries almost equally, and in my opinion Robben is better than Ribery. Robben's shot is second to none, and his trademark move of cutting inside and then shooting at the far post is tried and tested against almost every team in the world.

Iniesta was a phenomenal midfielder, sure. All adjectives fail him. But we should not be blinded by what he has done and rather look at his current situation. His passing has gone down a notch, but it's still spectacular. Modric on the other hand has time on his side.

Iniesta is a better midfielder overall but only based on current form Modric just edges it.

Fair, I think. Ineista has lost a step, and Modric is fantastic, but in the scope of their entire careers I'd still take Ineista.

As for Robben and Ribery, I'm going to be honest, I watch a lot of CL, and not a ton of Bundesliga, only a few Bayern league games a season (usually vs Dortmund). From what I've seen in those games, in addition to international play (where Robben was unreal) I'd take Robben. However, my sample size on that is kind of small, so said opinion isn't worth a ton.

Well, it depend on point of view, the comparison thread never really stated at wich moment they should be considered at their best.

Edit: Woah, I just hit 3000 comment with this one. :D

if we judge players full strength and No injuries : Iniesta And Robben.
Pretty hard choices since I put Iniesta Modric as my top 2 mids in the world, for me they are the ultimate football Players.
Iniesta for me reached perfection, his consistency is unreel, he gets applause everywhere even at Bernabeu and Espagnol Stadium...
Modric and Marcelo for me are the heart of Madrid, with Ramos.
Modric is more defensive than Iniesta, arguably more complete, but Iniesta is the most gifted and elegant player i saw in 2 decades of watching games, WC 2010 final winner, best player of two consecutive Euros 2008-2012, 4 CL trophies, load of domestic cups and leagues, and he still wants more, still hungry and defend his starring place like a Lion. an all time hall of famer no doubt.

The other comparison is even more harder, one of the best wingers ever with same style, fast, technical and incredible one footed players. Robben for me edged it for his incredible display in WC 2014, imagine if both weren't injury prone players...

Robben by far for me. His classic goal just never stops leaving me speechless.

Iniesta and Modric is like tiki described it. Iniesta is the most gifted playermaker while Modric is a much more complete player due to his defending superiority to Iniesta.

Agree with @Dynas on very points.

Although, i love both Iniesta and Modric. For the joy to watch Iniesta, is undoubtedly on top
