#Respect, against modern football

Legia Warszawa has a really brilliant Ultras section and when their section of their home stadium was closed from the 2nd leg of Play offs against Steaua (due to Bengals in the first round) they ignored UEFA moving to the other end creating this brilliant Choreo, ironic heart to UEFA who want the supporters in UEFA games to act like this

real electric atmosphere, showing the middle finger to uefa, (all hell breaking loose at 1:47)

This is a great passionate way of supporting a team, but UEFA are right to not allow ultras who do this. It's far too dangerous to have ultras with pyros and who can cause havoc, especially if it is a rival match. It's a safety hazard to all fans too. And that is not what the non-ultras in the stadium want.

Pyro is not a crime, these ultras are too smart to throw the pyro on to the pitch or int the normal supportes, no one was or will be harmed by these action...

if you dont fuck with the ultras they dont fuck with you unless you are a city rival.... most non ultras in the stadium do want this, it just does not contain any hazards tbh

You're right most of the ultras aren't stupid enough to just throw the pyro around but that doesn't cross out the possibility of one ultra making a mistake and hurting another fan bad. In addition, the smoke generated from all these pyros make it a worse environment. I'll agree with your second part of the post though because it is rare to see fights going on from ultras. But again, we can't cross out the fact that ultras get into fights more than normal fans. Remember those Lazio ultras who stabbed some Tottenham fans?

I for one am a huge fans of ultras. But I would just stick to ultras without much pyros and hazardous objects. Like Dortmund's ultras in the CL for example. No pyros but still an excellent reception and passionate atmosphere.

'Ultra' is such an elastic word.

It's basically a shield for violence, and not something to be proud of. You can't point to a random group of passionate fans and say: "they're ultras", because 'ultras' refers to the hooligan element. People cheering and doing crowd stunts of support are just fans, not ultras, and to say otherwise shows an ignorance of what the word actually means. Simply being passionate fans, does not mean being an 'ultra'.

It's the ultras who run around beating up rival fans. It's the ultras who stab rival fans. It's the ultras who make travelling to games across Europe dangerous and intimidating. It's the ultras who were what used to be known as the English Disease.

It's the ultras who ruin football.

Fuck ultras. Yay fans, instead.

I know Poland Ultra, Di*kheads that wants to fight every time for no reason, this is not Football.
If ultra just make a tifo or some great chants than alright, but those animals are not welcome in stadiums, if one day you want to bring your child watch his idols than respect UEFA's rules.
Dortmund ultras are the best example of what a fan should be or do.

"If ultra just make a tifo or some grat chants than alright"

But that's just the thing... those aren't ultras. Those are just fans. This whole 'ultras culture' business is just nonsense, and has been invented in the last few years by children on the internet, talking about something they don't really understand.

And yes, Dortmund fans are some of the best in the world.

<< Ultras are a type of sports fans renowned for their fanatical support and elaborate displays. They are predominantly European followers of association football teams, although they also play a big role in some non-European countries, like Egypt. The behavioral tendency of ultras groups includes the use of flares (primarily in tifo choreography), vocal support in large groups and the displaying of banners at football stadiums, all of which are designed to create an atmosphere which encourages their own team and intimidates opposing players and supporters. The actions of ultras groups can occasionally be overly extreme and are sometimes influenced by political ideologies or views on racism, in some instances to the point where the original ideology of the ultras phenomenon, passionate and loyal support of one's team, becomes secondary. In recent decades, the culture has become a focal point for the movement against the commercialization of sports and football in particular. >>

@lodatz yes and no.
Ultra nowadays replaced hooligaans but still at the begining it was associations who aim to create the best athmosphere for their teams and non-stop support during matches, but i don't deny that actually most of them are violent especially in some countries like Poland for example..
In my city, Le Mans, Ultras are well respected and support the most their team, but it's a problem of definition we agree in terms of ideas.

Ultras are what gives Football in general that special atmosphere and should not be punished if they are not harming anyone. There are things like fireworks that shouldn't be allowed but other than that they should just be watched over and safety measures should be taken in stadiums to assure the other fans they would be safe.

Hooligans in the other hand are the reason why England and EPL have poor stadium atmosphere compared with Germany and other countries in Europe. That is taking fanaticism too far and putting others in danger because of a sport emotion.

About the video I think it was great to see how fans reacted but nothing productive can result about this, they will eventually have to play with no crowd at all because the entire stadium would be closed.
UEFA is going a little too far with "safety" in the games and that is killing the atmosphere.
