This is so shitty. It's like telling Man U to remove the devil from their badge because of Christianity or Arsenal removing their cannon because of terrorism. It looks better with the cross to me although i never really noticed it.

This is terrible. These money grabbing cun.ts from Abu Dhabi are not muslim! Abu Dhabi and Dubai are city's full of stripclubs and nightclubs and naked women. It has nothing to do with Islam. Removing the cross from the badge is like removing a piece of history from us.
Kind of nonsense... Not something I was expecting from RM. Changing your shield just to accommodate to a certain population is a little ridiculous.
I think this is stupid. It's part of the club, and it shouldn't change just to satisfy a small portion of the fan base. It is a Spanish club, not an Arab club. Florentino is just a money whore at times. If Arabs don't like it, then don't support the club. SMH. This is pathetic.
Are any of us truly surprised?
I mean, for heaven's sake, Atletico Madrid are sponsored by an actual COUNTRY.
The morals of football are disappearing fast in the city of Madrid, it seems.
@Lod
Although for different reasons. Atletico do it in a vain attempt to kill debt and remain competitive (they really have to focus on one because they can't do both), and Real Madrid (well.... Perez) does it because he wants to make Madrid a global brand (which we already are).
if it's a team like drogheda united, completely unknown then changing the badge is ok. but for REAL MADRID WHO ARE SO BIG.
Don't see what is the problem . I am sure muslims around the world mostly did not notice it and if they did , I never heard them to stop supporting Real because of it . Ridiculous . Actually Real Madrid is very loved by muslims Arab countries as far as I know from my arab friends who are mostly Madrid supporters. And Not all Arabs are muslims too .
Confusing to me . Who are they trying win over by removing cross ? Not the people , I am damn sure about it . Probably sponsors, who told them to take it off if they want the new stadium to be build.

^i noticed it because i used to draw logos
The bigger the money, the further you bend over! That shows no FU@KIN respect, but yet Madrid do it. The UAE think they can buy everything.

On 12th September, Florentino Pérez announced a three-year partnership agreement with the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, the leading bank in the United Arab Emirates, which he termed a "strategic alliance with one of the most prestigious institutions in the world".
As a measure of how seriously Real Madrid are taking the whole thing, four first-team players, each representing a major European market, were also present during the unveiling: Toni Kroos (Germany), Karim Benzema (France), Gareth Bale (the United Kingdom) and Dani Carvajal (Spain).
One of the flagship items announced at the event was a brand-new National Bank of Abu Dhabi credit card that doubles as a Real Madrid membership card. Images of this new product have now surfaced, revealing that it features an edited version of the regular 'Los Blancos' badge, with the cross - a Christian symbol - above the crown removed so as to avoid causing offence or discomfort among Muslim customers.
As Florentino put it a couple of months ago, "I know that the local people experience every match in a special way and that our links with the UAE are constantly growing stronger. This agreement will help the club to keep conquering the hearts of followers in the United Arab Emirates". And from the looks of things, the club is willing to compromise on aspects of its identity in pursuit of these new fans.
