Real Madrid, FC Barcelona: why financial fair play does not hit as PSG.

While some supporters of the Paris Saint-Germain still wonder how their club can be pinned by the financial fair play established by UEFA while Real Madrid and FC Barcelona can release € 80-90 million without blinking without concerned, the answer probably lies in these few words: "distribution of TV rights."

Indeed, thanks to his victory in Ligue 1 for the year 2013-14, the club of the French capital generated € 44.7 million. A sum almost similar to the previous season and related to the distribution of wealth discussed in the Council of Directors of the LFP. In Spain, clubs owning their rights, the situation is clearly different.

As shown by the following table, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona each generates € TV rights on the same season in their championship 162 million. Four times the amount affected by the PSG. For comparison, the Spanish champions and finalists leaving the Champions League, Atletico Madrid, has generated revenue that € 42.2 million.

Barça net spent : 125m - 82.5m = 42.5M euros.

I told this before, FFP is a way to not let a money club become bigger in a very small period, big horses in Spain Germany and England wont be touched, you can discuss everything in this thread even the inequity of TV rights...

I heard lately some FFP claims in the forum, here is the best ocasion to ask questions or talk about things you think it isnt fair...

All the views are welcome to discuss FFP.

One question, if you know to answer.

I remember about three years ago there was discussion about TV incomes, that are shared between teams. The problem was that RMA&FCB were getting way too much money compared to other teams. The gap is still huge, but the question is, has the gap between teams' TV incomes tightened from what it was three years ago?

I think it's pretty fair, because there are millions and millions more viewers in RMA&FCB games compared to Osasuna's and Real Betis' for example. But this way so called 'smaller' teams are getting a lot less money to spend, that could have improved the level of the league.

I may agree with you.
For the question, the TV income has always been inequitable in Spain...
Barça only joined Madrid in the last decade.

Indeed, that what I thought about FFP (Financial Fair Play). The purpose seems like to prevent a club to get huge overnight because of some oily sugar daddy. The value of club history and class are then protected indirectly.

It doesn't mean that the small club have no chance to win the bigger historical one, they still do. But the gap will still be there.

But somehow, in this part, the whole thing sounds unfair. I hope UEFA finds the best equation to balance this, and not making the giants like Real, Barca, or any other can do whatever they want... like making ridiculous enormous shocking transfer and ****...

I think both Real and Barça would love to buy cheaper their targets, but it doesnt work like this...

The selling club knows that his player ( his best player most of the time lately ) is going to a Marketting monster club that will earn big amout of money with this player, so he may want to have a big amount to find proper replacement and benefit a little from the future incomes...

Beckham for example was incredibly cheap for his selling incomes, his transfer was paid by the incomes before he even touched the pitch, i cant really blame the selling clubs for including the shirt selling losses and the extra marketting value of a player, some of them can have until 50 millions followers, Neymar is a trademark alone for instance, he has a fan base that could be compared to a team fan base....

We all agree that the world is biased toward rich people, not only in Football. Barça and Real both share half of TV incomes while the 18 teams share the other half, in real life the 20 per cent of the rich share 90 per cent of the country incomes.

While the top 1 per cent share 40 per cent of the country :).

We are in an era of people losing every sense of criticism, the American dream was in fact a dream for 1 per cent of the population, a nightmare for other classes...

I think not only Football should change, we entered in a new way of slavery when the slave is working on his own without even knowing that he is used as a slave while their masters are enjoying life in Saint Tropez, the world rely on the American population, if they do not beat their masters and potentially the world masters, the whole world will be more and more inequitable not only in Football.
