14) Jose Fonte

Southampton surprised many people including me at the start of the season, but their form slowly slumped down and they never kept going after their bitter run of form. But a top 6 finish was surely a very difficult task, given the strength of other teams in the Premier League. One player who has been instrumental for Southampton is their defender Jose Fonte. The 30 year old Portuguese defender has been impressive for Southampton’s achievement so far this season which has been built from solidarity in their defence. The defender averages 2.1 tackles and 2 interceptions per game and his partnership with Lovren has been solid this season.

13) Seamus Coleman

In 2011, Seamus Coleman was compared to Gareth Bale, a comparison which he played down, despite outshining the former Tottenham winger in his side’s 2-1 victory over Spurs.3 years later now, Gareth Bale has earned a reputation of one of most fearsome wingers in world, and is current most expensive player of all time after his record transfer from Spurs to Madrid this summer.Coleman is slowly grasping interests from numerous Premier League clubs, building a reputation of becoming solid and equal contributor to both defence and attack. The Irishman defender has been a major contributor to Everton’s success so far this season, and is arguably one of the best attacking defenders in Premier League right now.

12) Gary Cahill

Jose Mourinho is best known for defensive solidarity within his team and his Chelsea team this season have been no different. After two goals galore games against Sunderland and Stoke, many criticised Chelsea defence to be vulnerable and not good enough. But things have changed since then and Chelsea’s recent impressive run of form and success story has been built from the back.Chelsea have only conceded 22 goals this season, best record in the Premier League so far this season and haven’t lost a single game against their direct title opponents, a majority of credit should go to their solid defence.Gary Cahill has been impressive for Chelsea this season so far, averaging 1 tackle and 0.9 interceptions per game which doesn’t look superb. But what’s superb is his 7.3 clearance per game which shows his presence of mind and calm attitude. Furthermore, his positioning and teamwork with his captain, John Terry has been impressive.

11) Wayne Rooney

Manchester United might not have been up to their standards this season, but their season could have been even worse if it weren’t for Rooney. The English international showed a glimpse of what he can be, at the start of the season with his glistering work-rate and cemented his place in the first team of United. He has scored 11 goals and has provided 10 assists so far this season, contributing to 21 Premier League goals directly for United which amounts to 46% of their goals this season. His versatility has allowed his manager David Moyes to play him as an attacking midfielder or a striker. His recent contract extension is surely a major boost to United and the Red Devils will surely thrive in upcoming seasons if Rooney continues to deliver.

10) David Silva

David Silva is one of the few names in a star studded Manchester City side who has built on a reputation of a consistent performer in the Premier League. In a physical league like EPL, there aren’t as many talented technical players as David Silva and the Spanish international has showed his class with numerous of contributions including key passes in City’s attack this season.Silva has provided 7 assists so far this season, averaging 3.9 key passes per game and impressive 73.5 passes. His pass success this season has also been praise worthy which is 88.7% and his versatility has allowed his manager Manuel Pellegrini to slot him anywhere he likes in the midfield.

8) Fernandinho

In a team like Manchester City, it’s often very difficult to get all the limelight and that has been the case for Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho. It has often been the other stars in City who have earned fame and praise for their success story so far, but Fernandinho has been the one who has provided them with a platform to foster their presence. Not a frequent goal scorer as one would like, Fernandinho has been an engine in Manchester City’s midfield this season. His absence in between was largely felt by the Citizens and he would play a pivotal role if City were to win the league this season.

7) John Terry

John Terry received large amount of criticism and his career was believed to head towards an end, following one of his worst seasons ever under Chelsea last season. But under Jose Mourinho, he looks like a completely different player and has been instrumental presence in Chelsea’s defence this season. His importance to the team has always been neglected by the media following his media allegations on sexual relationship with ex-girlfriend of his former team-mate Bridge or racism claims by Anton Ferdinand. But despite of all the hate, the former English captain has stepped up the gear and has been providing Chelsea with a hardcore defence and his leadership in the current team has allowed Chelsea to settle in as a team and deliver consistent performance.Chelsea are the current league leaders, and their success is built from their defence, with defensive duo Gary Cahill and John Terry co-ordinating with Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic to form a formidable defence and have conceded at least amount of goals so far this season in Premier League.

6) Aaron Ramsey

If any under performing player needs a proper mentor or a person to look up to, it’s Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh star was often criticised for not performing well and not being able to provide a good end product, but things have changed this season.Despite of a big money transfer of Mesut Ozil this season, it was often Aaron Ramsey who received the limelight at the start of the season, thanks to his heroic performances which also matched with consistency. He provided Arsenal with a proper platform for the title charge and his injury blow in the middle of the season and Arsenal’s sudden drop of form shows how valuable he was for the team this season.Ramsey has scored 8 goals so far this season, including 6 assists and his presence in the Arsenal team will surely be instrumental as we are heading towards the end of the season.

5 ) Sergio Aguero

Despite of being injured for quite a long time this season, Sergio Aguero showed why he’s been labelled as one of the best players in the Premier League. The Argentine forward has scored 15 goals so far this season, and provided 5 assists in his total 17 appearances in Premier League this season. It’s all down to his injury, otherwise he’d have given his competitor Luis Suarez a proper fight in a race to win golden boot this season.

4) Yaya Toure

It’s always brilliant to have a player like Yaya Toure in your team, especially in the Premier League. A man with a great physical presence added up by his technical abilities and leadership presence, Yaya Toure has been Manchester City’s consistent performer ever since he joined the club. His absence had always been missed by City whenever he went to Africa to play for Cup of the Nations, but he has been in full service for City this season, and as always has thrived to provide City with an engine in midfield. His tenacious presence alongside Fernandinho in midfield has helped City to charge on for the Premier League title, and if City win all their remaining games this season, they’ll be crowned as Premier League winners.Yaya Toure has played at the middle of park for numerous times this season, and he has been impressive in his new box to box midfielder role. He has returned a great total of 11 goals with 3 assists this season, and averages 1.1 key passes per game. His pass success has been impressive too, as the former Barcelona player has had 90.3% of success in his total passes in Premier League this season.

3) Daniel Sturridge

It wasn’t easy for us to separate a few players for the second position, and Daniel Sturridge is one of those players who have been impressive in Premier League this season. The English forward has teamed up with Luis Suarez to form the best striking partnership in the country and has scored 18 goals and provided with 5 assists this season and is Premier League’s second top goal scorer, a position behind his own team-mate Luis Suarez. His presence in Liverpool squad has what made them a free scoring side, and his technical presence in field for the Reds has pushed on Liverpool for title charge this season.

2) Eden Hazard

Chelsea’s success this season hasn’t all been about defensive solidarity. It’s also down to consistency and sheer talent of this Belgian winger that Chelsea are the current league leaders right now.Belgian forward Eden Hazard has scored 13 goals and provided with 7 assists this season, and has an impressive record of the most chances created by a player in Premier League. He averages a 2.7 key passes per game record, with 3.7 dribbles per game and has played almost in every forward positions for Chelsea this season. His sheer brilliance has allowed his manager to label him as the best young player in the world, and also forced to his comparisons with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. That individual achievement is too far away from now, but it has surely been closer than it ever was. Eden Hazard is surely a player that is capable of providing Chelsea with a major boost at the business end of the season, and his recent performances show that he’s more than ready.

1) Luis Suarez

Following a controversial act in a game against Chelsea where he bit Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic, everyone thought that his Liverpool career is coming to an end.If there was a slight doubt between people about his departure from Anfield, it was thought to be removed following his claims that he wanted to leave while playing for Uruguay in the summer. But all the credits must go to Brendan Rodgers and co., who succeeded to persuade the player to stay and he has returned the trust by his managers and colleagues with strong performances for Liverpool. He is often criticised for not being a player who performs in the Premier League, but what goes unnoticed is that he’s the one who has provided other Liverpool players a platform to deliver in big games. With 24 goals and 10 assists in 23 appearances so far this season, he averages a contribution to every 3 goals in 2 games for Liverpool which is magnificent. Also he has provided 2.9 key passes in average this season, showing his creativity and importance in Liverpool.Liverpool are firm favourites of finishing top four this season, and are also pushing on for title, and Luis Suarez is the one they can count on to deliver at the business end of the season.
