In case Paris Saint-Germain were not sufficiently motivated to win the Champions League, mega-rich Qatari owners of the French club will reward each player with a record €1m bonus if they claim the continent's greatest prize.

According to L'Equipe, that would represent the highest bonus ever paid in football history.

Bayern Munich players received €800,000 for their Champions League triumph last campaign along with German's title and cup.

PSG star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic helped negotiate the bonus with the president of the Ligue 1 champions, Nasser al-Khelaifi.

Last year, the team pocketed €240,000 for getting to the quarter-final where they were knocked out by Barca along with the €400,000 they claimed for winning the French league for the first time since 1994 a feat they look likely to repeat having stretched their lead over second-placed Monaco to eight points.

PSG underlined their Champions League credentials as they thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 6-1 on aggregate in the last 16.

Laurent Blanc's side go into Friday's quarter-final draw in Switzerland along with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Manchester United – in one of the most competitive quarter-finals of recent times.

Al-Khelaifi should consider giving me some, as it seems he have a bit too much petrodollars in his pocket...

As if they are not rich enough, this is how this world works, the rich gets richer. I think a poor players and clubs in Asia, South America or Africa who get less than 20,000 euros a year can give all those big clubs a nightmare knowing they will get 1m euro each if they win the CL.

Actually most of them don't even get 20,000 euros a year, many of them play for free.

@bluezz

PSG's President Nasser al-Khelaifi will take care of that.

That's a brilliant incentive. Now these players will be seriously motivated to win the CL to collect all that cash. Of course Zlatan negotiates this deal LOL.
