Proposed European Super League

Recently there has been talk of a European Super League which will take the place of the UEFA Champions LEague.
It will contain only the traditional powerhouses of the major countries and it will be a closed league.
This means that teams like Leicester, who are not a traditional heavyweight but manage to get a top 4 spot, will not be able to compete in European football.
What are your opinions on this idea?

it was Florentino Pérez's proposal in 2009 when he criticized Champion League.

It sounded appealing at first for the fans, but seriously it makes no sense now.

Based on this logic, why dont they have League for National football, why WC or Copa or European Cup?

Exactly. In my opinion, the Champions League is just fine the way it is. People might argue that teams like Maccabi Tel Aviv have no point in coming in the Champions League, but for their players and fans it is like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Yeah, why should a nothing team like Gent get to play in the CL?

Because they can, and do actually beat good European opposition. Good players and teams are not restricted to the top leagues, and if they win a championship, they should get to participate in the CL.

Banksters decided that the qualifications shouldnt be deserved but given to teams that get the most fans and money, unhealthy where is the compétition ? Most of owners would rather see a big team winning the league rather than Spurs or Leicester, because they admit there is less money to earn. Im 500 pr cent against this, if Barca faims to qualify for Europe and an other team deservedly were above, I would hate to see them playing in it...

I don't support this league, but one argument that people often use is that it would be a lot better to see top teams playing each other week in week out.
Charlie Stillitano said that the International Champions Cup was a more prestigious competition than Champions League because of the quality of the teams in it. He also said this -
“This is going to sound arrogant and it’s the furthest thing from it … but suddenly when you see the teams we have this summer in the ICC you are going to shake your head and say, ‘Isn’t that the Champions League?’ No, the Champions League is PSV and Gent.”
What do you guys think??

I think that both PSV and Gent played well enough to advance, and the egotistical nature of larger clubs shouldn't take anything away from that.

The man behind a potential revamping of the Champions League appears to believe that Manchester United invented football.

That man is American businessman and huge football idiot most likely also history moron , Charlie Stillitano .

Great clubs MUST prove it on the pitch, this kind of hype is disgusting, I dont care if a club got History, money orworldwide fans. If they play like an amator team no Matter How greedy are their owners and the money they could generate, their participation would be an insult to other small et clubs who fought whole season to get results....

Totally agree !

Also Anyone who supports this league has got to be banned from football , period . This will destroy football as we know it !! Already football in bad shape with all these financial injustices . Like recently Galatasaray being banned . They take it out on small clubs.
This guy wants to create something of NFL , MLS And NBA shit to make money ! All they care is MONEY !! Ever watched NFL , it is basically commercial festival !!!

I don't think this will happen and IF it did, it would really hurt all major leagues out there. It is only a money grab by greedy people who think they know what is best for a sport they have no business messing with. The current format is awesome. Why do you think the FA Cup and tournaments like it are so popular? It is because the lower team can play against a bigger club and have the chance to drop them out. That is so huge for fans and the players alike.

This is just a money move and should not happen.
