Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he accepted a Football Association charge of violent conduct.Bellamy was charged over an incident involving Jonathan De Guzman during the 3-0 defeat at Swansea on Saturday.

The striker appeared to catch De Guzman with his arm during the second half but referee Andre Marriner took no action at the time.Marriner's match report confirmed that the incident had not been seen by himself or his fellow officials but it was caught on video.

Cardiff issued a statement that read: "Craig Bellamy has reluctantly accepted the FA charge in relation to an incident at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday 8 February."Both Craig and the club are disappointed that the three-man panel of former referees reached their decision based on a video review this week.

"Following internal discussions at the club, Craig has chosen to accept the charge and the three-match ban without appeal."Craig will now miss Cardiff City's next three matches against Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup and Hull City."

So the ban doesn't grind my gears, in fact I'm glad that referees have taken action after the game to issue the ban, since his conduct went unnoticed during the match.

If they can implement this after the match, why on earth can't they use replays during the game? Go ahead and ban a player using a replay, but god forbid a crucial error be overturned during a match. Jesus Christ.

@WayneRooney, this is the foul

@tiki_taka, to my knowledge, a deliberate foul like this would be a straight red card, which is also a 3-match ban. That's the logic I'm using.

@ikoiko ty and wow that should be a red for sure, i would've gave maybe 1-2 match ban cuz he did it on purpose, but then again red card=3 match ban according to the rule
