The website Change.org is hosting a petition for UEFA, which has received over 16,000 signatures, which insists that the European Football governing body removes the European Cup wins from an era considered anti-democratic.

They are asking for the six European Cups won with Alfredo Di Stefano to be erased from the history books.

The text aimed at UEFA reads: "We want to ask for, in the name of the values that sport and democracy represent, the immediate erasure of the five European Cups given to Real Madrid between 1955-56 and 1959-60, and institutional recognition that the trophy won in 1965-66 does not correspond in any way with what we know as the UEFA Champions League."

Madrid dominated European football during the late 50s and 60s with a team of top players, winning six European cups in this time. They have 10 in total.

This is beyond infuriating. Yeah, why don't we erase the entire history of Francisco Gento, Alfredo Di Stefano, and Ferenc Puskas while we're at it? Oh, and just to make it fair, let's also take away Barcelona's trophies during 2009-12, because we all know that half of them were won through cheating and referees. It is obvious that Barcelona fans are the culprits behind this "petition". History is fucking history; don't try to fucking change it. I already knew that more than half of the Barcelona fanbase had mental defects, but this is stooping to a new low.

This petition will never get anywhere, and we all know it. No need to stress over nothing.

We all know this is not gonna happen. History is history. Next thing you know, we'll be discrediting all titles just because we think it's cheating.

Why tho, what is wrong with it. They were the nest team. They won it 6 times

I only count the big ears cup décima here, décima there. Okay but the difficulty of winning the cup has changed. Im agaisnt singing the petition because the cups were won. But its completely a different competiton than today.

What I dont like is claiming its the best club on History based on these cups, its like saying Barca is the best because they have the most world cup of clubs... The point may look stupid atm but in 50 years who knows an insignificant cup may become the most important while we all know How easy is to win club WC for a européen side.

Barca got erased all the cups won that Time, cups were Closed by the général Franco.

It was Barca's decision to not play in those cups. I don't see how that's Real's fault.

Barca chose a domestic cup over an international European competition. Might not have seemed like an obvious decision then, but it certainly is now. I would personally argue that the inflation of talent in a competition does not under-legitimize a title. Look back at the early world cups, teams were straight up not invited for political reasons and we still count the winners of those cups.

Seems to me like a lot of fuss over what amounts to basically nothing. It was a different time, with different priorities.

The trophies were won And there is no problem about it, I only talk about myself, offically Madrid has 10 And UEFA is the one who accorded it. Im supporting Barca And there were some historical issues there no need to go off topic so I see things from another perspective not the objective one sure. The big ears trophy is the ones I count usually, officially the competition started in 1955-56.
Biased ? Maybe. I am agaisnt the petition the only thing that matters here.

If they do in fact decide to nullify the 5 cups of Real (which they won't), shouldn't other teams like Benfica, Inter and other winners of this cup be discredited of their titles as well? They all won like that. However, if these titles were eliminated, the mindset of Real supporters wouldn't change anyway, they would always say they've won it 10 times, just like Juventus don't accept the fact that their two league titles during the Calciopoli scandal were removed.
