"When Pele scored his thousandth goal, and I said, 'Isn't that marvelous? Pele scoring his thousandth goal. A thousand goals'. And he says, 'I scored my thousandth goal about 6 years ago'".

He came to Greece for 4 years and managed Panathinaikos(my team).
He took them to Champions League final at Wembley(1971) with 18 greek players!
Sadly it was impossible to beat Cruyff's Ajax that time.
Respect for Him!
Great Manager and one of the best football players of all time!
R.I.P!

I am glad my father told me about him when I was young. He told me how he was one of the greatest players in the 20th century and that he helped lead Hungary to the WC final.

If you guys have not seen the whole series of Football's Greatest, you can find it at: <http://www.youtube.com/user/greatestfootballs>

For some reason, watching him juggle, at 23:52, despite being hugely overweight and well past his glory days, just drives home the point of how good he was. Imagine him in his prime; already better than 90% of players today with the ball at his feet.

Legend <3

(I still think Johan Cruyff is the greatest player of all time, btw, even if Messi is the best)

Anyone ever heard of Lev Yashin? What a boss he was between the sticks. Greatest keeper ever.

^ Same!

The most underrated footballer of all time is Garrincha, to my knowledge. He was downcasted by Pele but still one of the greatest players of all time!

@Ramaboy

Garrincha underrated? There's been a new stadium built for the WC named after him. His name is sung in every corner of the country. The whole world knows Garrincha as the greatest ever dribbler. There's no way he's underrated. And for anyone who didn't know, Pele and Garrincha never lost a game when they played together.

Pele is considered to be the greatest goalscorer in history (soon to be replaced by Messi/Ronaldo). He's scored over 1000 goals, but what people don't know is that approximately 400 of those were in friendlies, and the majority of them were undocumented by Santos. Puskas actually has videos for every single goal he had scored with Real Madrid, and the Hungarian communist government kept tallies and copies of all of his goals in Hungary as well.

Pele is widely regarded as the best goalscorer in history, but quite frankly, a lot of people don't know about Puskas and what he did. He outscored Pele in the 20th century to become the century's greatest ever goal-scorer. Who's the best striker in history?. Ronaldo El Fenomeno? Nope. Marco Van Basten? Nope. It's Ferenc Puskas.

@DYNAST if i folow your logic, puskas is not underrated because there's a fifa best goal price in his name. And of course his name is sung in every corner of HUNGARY.
i think both of them are not underatted just because they are known by people who were not born to watch them.
underrated players in history are unknown actually...

Garrincha: The Triumph and Tragedy of Brazil's Forgotten Footballing Hero

You will enjoy it.

@tiki_taka

But the difference is that Garrincha is remember all around the world. Brazil is a footballing nation that is famous all over the world, and when Brazilian fans sing the name of a player, it means that that player is something else.

Where is Hungary in football nowadays? So what if Puskas has a stadium named after him? It hasn't ever been used for big matches. Garrincha Stadium is going to be used for the WC, which means that people will get to konw all about him. A flag with his face on it will be seen all over the stadium. Puskas' stadium is more or less unused for big matches or international competitions. Hungary is a forgotten footballing nation, simple as that, and Puskas is known as one of the best in history only in Spain and Hungary. :(
