Retired Brazilian soccer star Pelé mourned the death of Argentine great Diego Maradona on Wednesday, following confirmation he had died of a heart attack earlier in the day.

“Certainly, one day we’ll kick a ball together in the sky above,” he said in a brief statement provided to Reuters by a representative.

They never played together and were part of two rival footballing country but they had obviously a lot of respect for each other.

I hope Pele will stay healty in the coming months and years, don't think I could support having those two leave us too close to each other. It would simply be too dissapointing. :(

Well Maradona used to brag against Pele and kinda talk trash at him... which made the rivalry much much stronger and passionate than even Messi v Ronaldo, as both of them avoid talking shit about each other
