What happened was quite simple. The Arsenal players applauded the away fans for coming so far and spending so much money to watch them play (and get whacked by City), but Ozil didn't applaud. Mertesacker was furious at this, and scolded Ozil for not applauding. But don't worry Gooners, Ozil wrote an apology later on his official Facebook page.
